Arab-Israeli wars, conflicts in 1948–49, 1956, 1967, 1973–74, make the Arab and Israel grievance get deeper and deeper. Both sides paid a heavy price. After the turmoil caused by war, people gradually realized that the war can not solve the Arab-Israeli conflicts, but make it more and more acute. Middle East peace and security among nations can only be established on the basis of reconciliation, and people who suffered the war are determined to make effort to turn towards peace direction.In November 1977, Anwar Sadat's visit to Jerusalem started the courageous peace process. It opened the door to direct negotiations for Arab and Israel, and stepped out the first step towards peace in the Middle East. On September 17, 1978, under the coordination of the United States, the two sides signed the "Camp David Accords". Egypt and Israel get the first breakthrough. On March 26, 1979, in accordance with "the Camp David agreement", Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin signed the peace treaty in the White House. Peace-process between Egypt and Israel break the overall Arab-Israeli war and confrontation that has existed for 30 years, Egypt and Israel achieved a normalization of relations, impelled politics to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East peace process.The author considers that Middle East peace process will be a long historical course, but the general trend of peaceful settlement is irreversible. The influence of the war and the results of peace process make people in the Middle East establish a strong conviction, "peace, not war". We believe Arabs and Jews eventually will be able to achieve national reconciliation.This dissertation comprises the introduction, the body, the concluding as well as the postscript. The body includes 4 chapters, each of which focuses on a specific topic. The first chapter makes a detail historical review of the Egyptian-Israeli peace process form Sadat's visit to Jerusalem in 1977 to the signing of the Peace Treaty in1979. The second chapter mainly analyzes the background and the reason of the peace making, from the view point of the international factor and the two sides. The third chapter is the important part of the essay, it discusses American's role in the breakthrough of the peace negotiation between Egypt and Israel. Peace-process between Egypt and Israel is the result of the joint effort of both sides, but the role of the United State is also very crucial. The fourth chapter is to make a study of the far-reaching importance and influence of Egyptian-Israeli peace process, and to indicate that Egyptian-Israeli peace set a particular formula for trying to deal with the Palestinian question. It pointed out that Peace-process between Egypt and Israel is a milestone in the history of the Arab-Israeli relations. It basically solved the major disputes between the two sides; it made the mainstream of the Arab-Israeli relations from a full-scale military confrontation into a seeking of comprehensive peace. In conclusion, it reveals the historical enlightenment of the peace process, and further points out that peace in the Middle East is a general trend and the Middle East peace process have a long way to go.
