China's Public Diplomacy With ASEAN Region:Status Quo,Problems And Countermeasures

As a new model of diplomacy,public diplomacy is an important supplement to government diplomacy.As China's overall diplomatic direction is adjusted from big-nation diplomacy to peripheral diplomacy and the"21st Century Maritime Silk Road"initiative is proposed,ASEAN region's strategic position will be further enhanced.In recent years,due to the increase in the territorial sovereignty friction between China and ASEAN region and the increase in the interdependence of the two economies,many ASEAN region countries have begun to regard China as a"threater"rather than a"cooperator,"and have started from mutual benefit and win-win.The"21st Century Maritime Silk Road"initiative was also misunderstood by many ASEAN region countries and further negatively affected the image of China.Therefore,strengthening the public diplomacy construction of ASEAN region,the core area of the"21st Century Maritime Silk Road",in the new era,will help build the public-will basis of mutual benefit and win-win between China and ASEAN region,and achieve mutual communication between the two peoples.This article first sorts out the historical context of China's ASEAN region public diplomacy,grasps the characteristics of China's development of ASEAN region's public diplomacy in each period,and then summarizes the current achievements of China's public diplomacy in ASEAN region's various fields,and builds an important strategic position from ASEAN region.The three perspectives of China's image and effective resolution of political disputes demonstrate that China is currently strengthening the significance of public diplomacy to ASEAN region;at the same time,through further analysis of the status quo of development,it is found that China's current public diplomacy presence of ASEAN region has a low efficiency in its decision-making system,a relatively monolithic diplomatic subject,and a lack of object Problems such as sexuality and formal use are not reasonable,and in-depth analysis of the causes of these problems;Finally,based on the new era background of "21st Century Maritime Silk Road",focusing on the core of building a pluralistic public diplomacy system,aiming at current China to ASEAN region The problems existing in public diplomacy are proposed from the four dimensions of system,subject,object and form to strengthen China's countermeasures and suggestions for ASEAN region public diplomacy.
