| On September 25,2013,South Korea’s Foreign Minister Yoon Byeong-shih,together with the foreign ministers of Mexico,Indonesia,Turkey and Australia,jointly formed the Medium Power Cooperation Organization(MIKTA),which is a concatenation of the initials of the English names of the five countries(Mexico,Indonesia,Korea,Turkey and Australia).Although these five countries are different in geographical location,historical tradition,cultural customs,religious beliefs and so on.However,as a medium-sized power,they are in the top 20 economic strength in the world,and their distinctive religious cultures make this organization have its own unique advantages.Through more than five years of exploration and efforts,MIKTA has initially established its own unique cooperation mechanism.While closely cooperating with its member states and carrying out various forms of cooperation activities,it has also played an important role in the handling and settlement of international affairs and formed a five-nation cooperation model with rapid growth potential.At present,MIKTA cooperation activities have gradually expanded to many fields such as politics,culture,education,science and technology,diplomacy,security and so on,with many achievements.The emergence of MIKTA will not only inject vitality and growth points into the development of the world economy,but will also play an important role in promoting the establishment of a more just and reasonable new world political and economic order through its own further improvement and development in the future,it will also promote the development of multi-polarization of the international political structure and improve the efficiency of global governance.However,at this stage MIKTA is still a new thing in the exploration stage.MIKTA member countries are developed countries except Australia,and the other four members,as emerging economies,are facing a series of economic development difficulties in domestic development and challenges from external trade protectionism.under such circumstances,based on summing up five years of development experience and lessons,countries will continue to deepen cooperation,improve and play the advantages and roles of the cross-regional consultation forum,make it a more stable mechanism,and will certainly create greater development benefits for member countries and the vast majority of small and medium-sized countries.Therefore,under the trend of expanding influence,the role of the five-nation cooperation mechanism of MIKTA cannot be ignored.The comprehensive study of MIKTA is of great significance to both MIKTA member states and the international community. |
