Nowadays the United States is the leading power of the international community.The influence of its foreign policy changes on international development trends cannot be ignored.With the growth of China’s economic strength,the United States regarded China as a challenger to its international dominant position and adopted many checks and balances measures to limit China’s development momentum.After Trump won in the 2016 presidential election,to fulfill his campaign promise,he implemented a series of reverse-globalization measures.Therefore,understanding US foreign policy trends and strategic intentions has important practical significance for the advance of China’s comprehensive national strength.This article is divided into three parts.Analyzing the reasons of Trump’s reverse-globalization measures is the main content.The article’s train of thoughts are as follows: Firstly,by sorting out the remarks and policy measures made by Trump since his inauguration,the first part presents the specific manifestations of his reverse-globalization,mainly included strengthening the tendency of unilateralism,withdrawal from international organizations,and tightening of immigration policies,etc.Secondly,after tidying up and thinking about the existing documents,Trump’s reverse-globalization can be attributed to three aspects: economy,social culture and politics.From an economic point of view,free trade enables the resources to be effectively deployed among a global scale,promotes the expansion of the world economy,and improves the state of global economic development.However,within a country,welfare improvement does not benefit all groups,and the globalization necessarily leads to winners and losers.US multinational companies split the production process and transfer many production departments to other countries.The division of labor around the world causes the industrial hollowing in the United States,The industrial hollowing leads to difficult position of the middle class and the uneven distribution of wealth in the United States,which seriously impacts the social justice.The gap between the rich and the poor in the United States has expanded since the global financial crisis.The bottom of the American society who attributed their poverty to globalization and free trade has become the main force to promote reverse-globalization in the United States.From the perspective of social culture,theintegration of immigrants has caused conflicts between different cultures,resulting in a crisis of identity and increasing social contradictions,which threats US public security.From a political point of view,the US political system determines that the president must be accountable to voters.To consolidate political foundation,Trump has to cater to the political demands of his supporters.With the development of globalization,the share of international trade in emerging countries continues increasing.The rapid economic growth has led to changes in the international structure.The United States pays more and more attention to relative returns in order to ensure its absolute superiority.The third part of this article presents the possible impact of Trump’s reverse-globalization from the perspective of global governance,:Trump’s trade protection behavior is contrary to the concept of mutual benefit and win-win in global economic governance,which inevitably negatively affects global economic development.Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and non-cooperation on climate change issues will certainly hinder global climate governance.China has benefited from the globalization and has become an active supporter for globalization.In response to the possible impact of Trump’s reverse-globalization,China should actively promote the construction of a new type of globalization.Of course,China has to correctly assess its own strength level and be cautious in this process.
