As one of the first countries in the European continent to carry out the industrial revolution,Belgium has a profound socialist tradition and a long history of workers'struggle. In the 1970s,the Belgian Workers' Party was born in the wave of student protest movements at that time, and was also influenced by the Chinese Communist Party, the Latin American guerrilla movement, and the anti-Vietnam war. After the founding of the Workers' Party,it was announced that Marx,Lenin's scientific theories and Mao Zedong's works should be used as the basis for party building and creatively applied to concrete realities. After the drastic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the world socialist movement entered a period of low tide.As a radical left-wing party guided by Marxism-Leninism,the Belgian Workers' Party is also facing an unprecedented crisis of survival. In this context, the Workers' Party made a profound reflection on its socialist theory and strategic proposition in the Eighth Congress of 2008,proposing that we should follow the basic principles of Marxist parties and adopt a struggle that conforms to the new era.Strategy.The convening of the "Big Eight" made the Workers' Party enter a new historical period and made historic breakthroughs in the subsequent parliamentary elections and in the practice struggle outside the parliament. At the same time, the Belgian Workers' Party also attaches great importance to the construction of ideological theory. While profoundly criticizing the systemic crisis of capitalism,it puts forward the idea of future socialist society, advocates the socialization of key economic sectors, and establishes participatory democracy and socialism.culture.In the struggle to lead the working class to achieve social change, the Workers' Party advocates the establishment of the broadest struggle power and the cultural hegemony of the working class. The outbreak of the financial crisis and the austerity policy of the Workers' Party have a new development opportunity. The party plays an irreplaceable role in opposing the right-wing forces, fighting for and defending the working class and the interests of the people. At the same time, the attack of the right-wing forces, the competition between other types of left-wing forces, and the theoretical construction of the party itself are not perfect enough to face unprecedented challenges.Ultimately, the Workers ' Party has been able to achieve historic achievements both within and outside parliament. In the final analysis,it is possible to seek a proper balance between adhering to traditional principles and carrying out changes according to the changes of the times and the national conditions of the country. At present, the development of Marxist political parties in developed capitalist countries in Europe still faces many difficulties and challenges, and some are still fighting for survival. The inheritance and innovation of the Workers' Party on the basic principles of Marxism are of great significance for these parties to explore the socialist road in their own country.Of course, the Workers' Party still has many problems to deal with the relationship between inheritance and innovation.
