The clashes between Saudi Arabia and Iran have both the geopolitical confrontation between the two countries and the long-standing sectarian conflict. The purpose of this article is to give readers an idea of the current state of history, politics, and identity around the Middle East,as well as the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The article first reviews the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran during the three periods of 1929-1979: 1979-2003: 2003-2011.These periods will explain the historical relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran before the Arab Spring, outline the respective goals of Saudi Arabia and Iran, and how these two countries can implement foreign policy in their missions to demonstrate regional power and influence. The first part of the text will analyze the shift in power balance and the intensification of competition that took place since the Arab Spring in 2011.During this period, relations between the two countries have gone from all-out deterioration to complete diplomatic relations.Specifically manifested in continued agent war,"Shiite new moon belt" and "anti-Iraqi alliance",the Iranian nuclear issue, the economic friction between the two countries.Through these specific events, the strategic and geopolitical competition between Saudi Arabia and Iran, representing two distinct religious aspirations and political systems of the leadership of the Islamic world,is demonstrated, highlighting the uncertainty of the situation in the Middle East. The second part is to discuss the internal factors affecting the relations between the two countries. From the domestic political environment and foreign policies of the two countries, how the political groups of various countries influence the formulation and implementation of bilateral relations policies. At the same time,we cannot ignore the internal security circumstances of the two countries. Both countries have different "paganism" from the mainstream sects of the country. At the same time, the complex ethnic composition also puts pressure on the stability of domestic politics. And these pressures will eventually affect bilateral relations. Finally, both countries have inherent needs for seeking identity,Islamic orthodoxy and the legitimacy of the regime. These attributes have caused the two countries to implement foreign policy on the basis of recognized needs on some issues. Here, the issue of the Hajj and the execution of Nimir were analyzed in particular. The third part is the external factors that affect the relationship between the two countries.Complex regional factors have caused conflicts and distraction between the two countries in the region.By analyzing the issues of Bahrain,Yemen,Iraq,Lebanon,Palestine, and Syria we will broaden our perspective on the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The changing international environment in the region has made the strength of the two countries different. The US Middle East policy and its relations with the Saudi and Iranian governments have also greatly affected the mutual relations between the two countries. The fourth part tries to analyze the future direction and influence of the two countries.Due to the existence of structural contradictions, the regional warfare between Saudi Arabia and Iran will continue. The geographical competition and sectarian conflict between the two countries will continue to be the main line in the evolution of the political structure in the Middle East.Of course, although the long-term competition and tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran tend to rise, the two countries will not move toward a direct military conflict at all.The US as a dispute settler in the Gulf region will not allow the balance of power to be excessively inclined to either side.In the absence of a positive military conflict between the two countries,Saudi Arabia and Iran will continue to support agents to fight against their opponents based on a counter-productive stimulus model. After the "Arab Spring",the development of the relationship between Saudi Iran and Iran not only depends on the various comprehensive elements that constitute the strategic interests of both countries but also the influence of the Gulf and the entire Middle East and even the international situation. The future trend of the Saudi Arabia and Iran relationship should be interpreted from the issues affecting the current relationship between the two sides, and the involvement of regional and external factors, especially the major powers,as an important basis for assessing the future relationship between the two countries.
