Labor Participation Effect Of The Social Security Insurance On The Urban Elderly In China

Under the background of prolonged life expectancy and aging population structure,it is of great significance to explore the establishment of a more stable labor market for ensuring and promoting the steady growth of social economy.In the past,the study of aging always based on the perspective of problem and viewed the elderly as a consumer of resources.However,analyzing the labor participation effect of the social security insurance on the elderly under the background of productive aging can provide a reference to coordinate the relationship between the life guarantee and the supply of labor force.Thus this dissertation selects the data of Chinese Longitudinal Aging Social Survey in 2014 and using the logistic regression as the diagnostic tool.Finally,this study analyzes the current situation of labor participation of the urban elderly as well as the labor participation effect of social security insurance on this group.In this study,insured situation,treatment level and insured type are three dimensions to exam the social security insurance.By controlling the demographic characteristics variables,this study finds the labor participation of the urban elderly has differences and the specific findings are as shown below.First,the level of labor participation of the urban elderly population without insurance is significantly higher than that of the urban elderly population with insurance.The participation of social security system has an extrusion effect on labor participation.Also,the coverage of insurance and the supply of pension have a significant negative impact on the labor participation of the elderly.Second,the improvement of pension level has negative effect on the labor participation of the urban elderly and different levels of the pension benefits will provide different levels of life security for retirees.However,this effect shows a weakening trend on the elderly who enjoys the pension level of more than 4000 yuan per month.Third,different insured types have different effects on the labor supply of urban elderly.The participation level of the elderly insured by government institutions is the lowest,the participation level of the elderly insured by urban workers is the middle,and the participation level of the elderly insured by urban residents' endowment insurance is the highest.The statistical analysis results of this dissertation show the objective facts of the labor participation of the urban elderly and reveal the participation effect of institutional factors on the labor participation of this group.Based on the above research results,this study summarizes the group differences of labor participation of the urban elderly.To be specific,some elderly participate in labor to improve their living standards,some elderly achieve self-realization through labor participation,and some elderly choose to enjoy their leisure time and quit the labor market.The reason of this difference is that the participation logic satisfies the triangle of "need,ability and space".The identification of this participation logic can help understand the conception of the system and the features of the labor participation better.Also,it has much useful reference for stabilizing of the labor market,promoting the economic development and the stability of social structure.
