Since the end of the Cold War,the US policy toward Russia has undergone different stages of adjustment.In 2000-2018,the Bush administration,the Obama administration,and the Trump administration all had short-term cooperation with Russia.However,since the cooperation violated the personal goals of the US president and the team,it intensified the political struggle between the two parties and the domestic opposition,what's more,Russia's sentiment continues to rise,coupled with the decline of the United States' own power and the increasing power of the Putin government's policy toward the United States.The United States eventually has a strong negative perception of Russia and believes that Russia is a“competitor” and poses a major threat to the United States.On this basis,in order to offset the growth of Russia's strength,prevent Russia from seeking and possessing power advantages,and eliminate the purpose of Russia's threat to US security,the three governments finally returned to Russia to return to the policy of balancing dominated by prevention and competition.In order to achieve the goal of balancing,the United States has adopted a "hard balancing" operation based on alliances and armaments.Specific aspects include promoting NATO's eastward expansion,intervening in Syria,strengthening anti-missile deployment,withdrawing from the pilot treaty,etc.For the "soft balancing" on diplomacy and economy,specific aspects include supporting the "color revolution",intensifying the Ukrainian crisis,and implementing sanctions.In the future,the US policy toward Russia is likely to continue along the track of "temporary cooperation and continuous balancing."...
