Study On Border Regiment Of Xinjiang Production And Construction Corps

Before the 1960 s,on the northwestern border of China and the Soviet Union,the Chinese side had always been borderless.In April and May of 1962,the "Ira and Tajistan incidents" that shocked China and foreign countries occurred in Yili and Tacheng areas of Xinjiang.After the incident,according to the instructions of the superiors,the Corps immediately organized the militia company to go to the front line of the border,persuaded the border people to return to their hometowns,stabilized the social order,and organized the "three agencies"(replaced farming,replaced pasturing,replaced management)working party to help the locals resume production.Becouse the Soviet Union continued to launch armed provocations in the border areas of Xinjiang,threatening China's security,and sent secret agents to sneak into China to spy on intelligence,the State Council and the Central Military Commission instructed the Corps to establish a border farm belt along the Sino-Soviet border areas in Xinjiang,to set up the original "three generations" task force on the spot to build a border regiment field.At the same time,a large number of manpower and material resources were drawn from the various divisions of the Corps to go there.By the end of 1972,the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had built 58 border regiments in the border area,thus ending the frontier defenselessness on the northwest frontier of China.After the establishment of the Border Regiment,the regiment,together with the Xinjiang Military Region and the local government,has strengthened the management of the border areas.While strengthening the construction of the militia on duty company,it has implemented joint military-civilian defense,and built three defense lines to maintain border security.The border regiment yard is the key to the second defense line.Subsequently,the development of Frontier regiments has gone through a difficult period of entrepreneurship,the "Cultural Revolution" and the frustration period when the system was abolished,the recovery and development period,as well as several development stages in the new historical period.It can be described as twists and turns.The establishment of border regiment yard not only played a role in defending border defense and preventing the infiltration of hostile forces at home and abroad,but also promoted the development of economic and cultural undertakings in the border areas and fully played the role of the "three teams" of the regiment.In the new era,the border regiment is faced with the coexistence of opportunities and challenges,the support of the central policy,the support of 19 provinces and municipalities to aid Xinjiang,the influence of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the resources and geographic advantages of the regiment itself,which make the border regiment face many development opportunities.However,due to poor natural conditions,lag in infrastructure,lack of talent,and the threat of non-traditional security,the task of squatting is more arduous,which is a huge challenge for the border regiment.
