The Image Of China In Russian Media

In recent years,Russia has been subjected to numerous economic sanctions from Western countries,the increasing tensions between Russia and the West raised the need to shift towards cooperation with the East,which had a major impact on the Sino-Russian relationship,strengthening the basis of the contemporary bilateral relations between China and Russia.As a result,Russian media has also increased its attention to China and the publications about China.The research object of this article is the news about China presented in the Russia's international news agency website www.ria.ru,based on the methods of content analysis which is the main method of analysis,this paper selects the news from January 2017 to December 2017,and uses the number of reported issues,tendentious to analyze the image of China to sump up the characteristics of China's image in Russian media among this year.The study found that news about China in RIA website are neutral,the number of positive reports is much more than negative reports.Narrative mode of Western thought occurred on specific topics,but did not appear "China threat" argument,and the overall shape of China's national image is objective.The Russian media stay focused on China's political,social and economic issues.Although artistic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia has reached an unprecedented high level,the overall attention to Chinese culture that year is not high.The China-related reports released by the Russia's international news agency confirm the positive political and economic national image of China in 2017.According to the Russia's international news agency,China is a peaceful and friendly neighbour and a major strategic partner of Russia.With growing international influence,China plays an important role in the development of the world economy,and is also the main engine of the global GDP and one of the world's largest outward investors.The Chinese economy is growing rapidly,and the Chinese market plays a huge role in the world's consumption growth,but behind the rapid economic development and innovation in science and technology,the Russian media is also concerned about social problems in China,such as wealth gap and corruption.
