The Image Of China In Russian Media

As a country’s "soft power",the importance of a country’s image is self-evident.Whether a country’s international image is positive or not is closely related to the external dissemination of its mainstream media,and the presentation and perception of other countries’ media is also a mirror that cannot be ignored.The "Global Survey and Analysis Report on China’s National Image" shows that the main source of overseas people’s perception of China’s image is still the local media;in addition,a study on Russians in Beijing also shows that even if the respondents work and live in China for a long time a large number of Russians in Beijing still learn about China through local Russian media reports.Sino-Russian relations are the most important group of major power relations in the world.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations,China and Russia have always adhered to mutual benefits and friendship and non-alignment.The mainstream media of both sides have been showing the image of each other’s outstanding major powers through various channels.Studying the presentation of China’s national image in Russian media is a basic work for accurate external communication.This research selects Russia’s largest weekly magazine "Evidence and Fact" to conduct a systematic analysis and research on China-related reports from 2016 to 2020.It is found that the mainstream Russian media represented by "Evidence and Fact" presented China’s image in a generally sufficient,positive,friendly,and neutral manner.The objective reality of close exchanges between countries in recent years,mutual benefit,and playing an important role in international affairs.Of course,due to the influence of national interests,geopolitics,history and culture and other factors,the "China Threat Theory" also appears in the weekly reports from time to time.This research believes that this issue should be paid attention to by relevant state departments,especially public opinion departments and mainstream media.Especially in the face of a neighboring power like Russia,we should tell China’s story in a targeted manner and maximize the To realize the precise dissemination of "one country,one policy".This study seeks to provide some valuable reflections in this regard.
