After the end of the cold war,the strength of all parties in the international community is becoming more and more balanced.China has gradually established its diplomatic partnership strategy on the basis of non-alignment.Nowadays,China's diplomatic partnership strategy has become an important approach of China's foreign diplomacy. The partnership of China is equal, reciprocal and cooperative. This paper mainly studies the relationship between China's diplomatic partnership strategy and China's imports to illustrate whether China's diplomatic partnership has the "altruistic" meaning.Based on the gravity model, this paper makes an empirical analysis by using the "China Foreign Partnership Database(1993-2014)" constructed by Sun Churen and Liu Yaying(2017)and the bilateral trade data from 1993 to 2014 provided by BACI.When using this model, this paper chooses some variables from the World Development Index(WDI)as control variables. And further more, this paper controls the state fixed effect, time fixed effect and industry fixed effect. The empirical results show that the strategy of China's diplomatic partnership indeed bring significant promotion effect to China's imports.Considering the robustness of the empirical results, this paper tests the robustness in following six solutions: 1.When I divide countries into China's neighboring countries and non-neighboring countries for testing,it is found that the promotion effect of China's diplomatic partnership on China's imports in neighboring countries is significantly higher than that in non-neighboring countries;2.When I divide all the neighboring countries into six parts.,the results show that the promotion effect of China's diplomatic partnership on China's imports is significant in all parts around China.3.When samples are divided into developed and developing countries according to HDI,the promotion effect of China's diplomatic partnership on China's imports is emerging. And the effect in developing countries are better than developed countries;4.When countries are divided into landlocked and nonlandlocked countries, the results show that the promotion effect of China's diplomatic partnership on China's imports is significantly positive in non-landlocked countries, but is restrained in landlocked countries;5.When countries are divided into APEC member countries and non-APEC member countries for testing, the results show that China's diplomatic partnership promotes China's imports efficiently. It is slightly higher in non-APEC member countries than in APEC member countries, which is unexpected.6.When I classify the imported products into different types. It is found that the promotion effect of China's foreign partnership on China's imports is significantly positive in energy products and technology-intensive products of low, medium and high levels. The main contributions of this paper are as follows: 1.This paper explains the connotation of political nouns from the perspective of economics for the first time.By verifying the economic benefits that China's diplomatic partnership brings to its diplomatic partner countries, this paper highlights its "altruistic" meaning.2.It proves that partnership is not only a superficial symbolic relationship by quantifying the promotion effect of China's diplomatic partnership on imports;3.When the partnership needs to be upgraded, this paper could be refered to some extent.
