A Study Of Yanaihara Tadao's Manchuria Colonial Theory

The colonial issue is an important part of the development of modern Japanese imperialism and an indispensable part of the study of modern East Asian history.Before the war Japanese colonial studies were mainly focused on colonial policy science.Nitobe Inazo opened the Japanese colonial science.Yanaihara Tadao tried to separat the colonial science from the disciplines of politics,economy,and sociology and then develop into an important figure in an independent discipline.His theory of colonial policy has a strong liberal tendency,and he believes that if the colonial contradictions are completely resolved,the colonies will eventually go to the demise of the political dominance of the colonies and sovereign states.His theory of colonial policy was a peak in the development of Japanese colonial studies before the war.Yanaihara originally opposed the definition of political factors such as the state and the genius in the definition of colonization,and emphasized the broad social and economic value brought by the colonization.The same thought was also carried out in his "Manchurian Colonial Theory".His "Manchuria" understanding is closely related to his colonial theory-"substantial colonial theory",emphasizing the economic value of "Manchuria" to Japan.He has a strong interest in China,especially the "Manchuria" region.We can find his unique analysis of Zhang Xueliang's regime,Japanese immigrants,and the "September 18 Incident." He does not agree to take aggression to seize "Manchuria",but supports Japan in a peaceful way to operate the "Manchurian colony" and gain economic benefits,thus to form a unique "Manchuria colonial theory."There are many studies on the colonial policy of Yanaihara in Japan,but there is very little research on Manchurian Colonialism.This article will complete the combing of "Manchurian Colonialism" of Yanaihara Tadao,and explore the theoretical essence and internal logic of "Manchurian Colonialism",and evaluate the "Manchu Colonialism" objectively.This article is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the life,main works of Yanaihara,and his overall colonial policy theory.The second part specifically introduces the "Manchuria" colonial theory of Yanaihara,which is divided into the "September 18 Incident",the "Manchurian Rights Theory",the regime of ZhangXuelianag,the immigration of Manchu-Rian,and "the Manchuria country".The "Manchuria" colonial policy theory is detailed and reviewed.The third part is the evaluation of Yanaihara's "Manchuria" colonial theory.The author tries to analyze the core colonial view by comparing with the original colonial thoughts of the Japanese colonial scholars like Miono Yamamoto,Nitobe Inazo,and Sinpei Goto.Finally,the author summarizes the colonial theory of Tadao Yanaihara and the "Manchuria colonial theory".
