The professional identity of the new generation of police refers to the positive understanding,evaluation,self-confidence and perseverance of the new generation of police to public security work and even to public security undertakings.It is the endogenous motive force of the new generation of police to promote self-growth and determines the spiritual outlook and working attitude of the new generation of police.The new generation of police is a contemporary young policeman born after the implementation of China's reform and opening up policy and deeply affected by the social changes caused by relevant policies,are an important part of the public security team,and have become a new force in public security work.The professional identity of the new generation of police is directly related to the mental state of the public security team and affects the strength of the public security team's combat effectiveness,which in turn affects the achievement of the public security organs' mission.In order to better adapt to the new requirements of the new era for public security organs,the central government has clearly pointed out the general direction of promoting the construction of revolutionary,standardized,professional and professional public security ranks.Public security organs around the country are actively studying specific mechanisms to strengthen the professional construction of public security ranks and promote the formation of combat effectiveness of public security ranks.In this context,it is of great significance to find out the current situation of the professional identity of the new generation of police,to explore the internal mechanism of the influence of the new generation of police professional identity,and to find out the countermeasures and paths to improve the professional identity of the new generation of police.This research is based on this understanding,taking the research on the professional identity of the new generation of policemen as the topic,combing the research results and theories of the police professional identity,taking the Maslow's hierarchy of needs,Dual-factor theory,Identity theory and Career anchor theory as the research perspective,using questionnaire survey as the main method and semi-structured interview as the supplement to analyze the current situation,influencing factors and formation mechanism of the new generation of police professional identity.The results show that: firstly,the overall level of professional identity of the new generation of policemen is on the upper middle level,and the scores of each dimension of professional identity are not uniform.The average size of each dimension ranks as follows: Professional norm compliance efficiency > Professional value > Effectiveness of selfregulation > Professional emotion > Professional rights and interests.Secondly,there are significant differences in the professional identity of the new generation of policemen in different social demographic characteristics.Relatively speaking,the professional identity of the new generation of policemen in female,older,only-child,married,policemen with long police years,high educational level,high wage and income level and urban units is higher on the whole.The professional identity of the new generation policemen in different levels of graduated colleges and universities is higher.There was no significant difference.Thirdly,the professional identity of the new generation of police is shaped by many factors.First of all,salary income is one of the most important factors affecting the professional identity of the new generation of police.The higher the salary,the higher the professional identity of the new generation of police.Secondly,age and length of service have no significant influence on the professional identity of the new generation of police,which shows that these factors are not the factors affecting the professional identity of the new generation of police.Thirdly,the attributes of unit location have a complex impact on the professional identity of the new generation police.The professional rights and interests of the new generation police in the urban area are lower than those in the counties and suburbs.However,the new generation police in the urban area are higher than the new generation police in the counties and suburbs in terms of professional emotion and compliance efficiency of professional norms.Further,on the basis of quantitative analysis and semi-structured interviews,this study preliminarily explores the formation mechanism of the professional identity of the new generation of police,and establishes the path model of the professional identity of the new generation of police.Firstly,salary income can improve professional identity by meeting the needs of the new generation of police at the micro level.Age and length of warning affect occupational identity through salary.Secondly,the attributes of unit location can enhance professional identity by meeting the cultural needs and career development orientation of the new generation of police organizations at the micro level.Then this study proposes strategies and paths to improve the professional identity level of the new generation of police.
