| Stop and investigation is an important task for the police to prevent crime and maintain order.It is also a task with great risk and challenge.To timely,accurately recognize occupational risks is the premise to deal with the dangers,and should be a fundamental capability of a police officer.On the way to the standardization of enforcement and the reinforcement of officers’ determination to enforce the law,occupational risks can’t be ignored and work-related deaths ought to be reduced.Importance must be attached to the study of risk recognition.Hopefully,this study can allow police officers a pair of sharp eyes,helping them to more calmly face and handle risks and improve the quality of stop and investigation.Section one of this thesis is the introduction that briefly explains the purposes,goals and values of the study,systematically synthesizes relevant literature on stop and investigation and risk recognition with a focus on theories of information processing,attack signaling,and safe behavior.Section two of this thesis discusses possible risks associated with stop and investigation.This part touches on the definition of main characteristics of stop and investigation and delineates the concept of risk and unique risky factors pertain to stop and investigation.It defines the concept of risk recognition during stop and investigation and discusses the three primary components of risk recognition,including sources of risk,levels of risk and inclination to violence.The third section of this thesis analyzes current problems and factors influencing such problems.Drawing upon survey data and in-depth analysis,this section attempts to uncover concerns and problems associated with officers’ recognition of risk,including can not fully identify hazards,can not accurately judge the dangerous grade,cannot effectively identify violent tendencies,slow speed of risk recognition,and examine both macro-and micro-levels of factors causing these problems.The last section provides solutions and suggestions.To address current problems,this part furnishes suggestions and possible solutions around six main areas:(1)increasing safety education and safety awareness;(2)enhancing attention and control and excluding irrelevant distraction;(3)improving mental capability to control the scene;(4)providing training on prompt recognition to swiftly identify risks;(5)reducing occupational stress and cultivating positive emotions;and(6)accumulating field experience and learning related knowledge. |
