Research On Trump Government's Policy Towards India Under The "Indo-pacific" Strategy

Since the Trump Administration came into power in 2017,the concept of "Indo-Pacific" has been increasingly used in government,Parliament and military documents in the United States.In order to adapt to the changes in the geographic pattern of the "Indo-Pacific region",the Trump government put forward the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategic Concept" in 2017,and gradually took measures to promote the implementation of the "Indo-Pacific" strategy from 2018.During the Barack Obama period,the United States continued to pay more attention to South Asia,and the relationship between the United States and India developed rapidly.After Trump came to power,the strategic partnership between the United States and India became more and more deepened.Because of its unique geopolitical advantages,rapidly growing economy and its complex bilateral relations with China,India plays an important role in the US "Indo-Pacific" strategy.The United States hopes to find a country with common security concerns in the "Indo-Pacific region",and India has become the most suitable target.The American policy to India serves the overall strategic needs of the country and is the deepening and development of the original policy.With frequent high-level interaction between the United States and India,the United States attaches great importance to maritime military cooperation with India.It mainly hopes that India will play a more active role in the "Indo-Pacific" strategy,especially in balancing China's development.India hopes to increase its international influence by means of the "India-Pacific" strategy of the United States,especially by expanding military and technological cooperation,so as to achieve rapid development of the country.From the perspective of the trump administration's policies towards India at the current stage,although there have been differences and divergences between the us and India,the us will still focus on a more active policy towards India,so as to consolidate its dominance in the indo-pacific region.By studying the US policy toward India,we find that its main feature is to serve the US "Indo-Pacific" strategy and to highlight the characteristics of China.This paper explains the latest progress of the US policy toward India,which is important for understanding the trend of US-Indian relations and its possible impact on China.In this regard,China should give full play to its subjective initiative and deeply interpret the latest strategy of the United States and its foreign policy under this strategy,so as to lay a good foundation for the development of the trilateral relations between China,the United States and India.
