Domestic Violence is one of the major human rights predicaments that transcend cultural,economic,social and religious ranks.It hinders human dignity,health and in the long period becomes the main problem to socio-economic and political growth.The intention of this study is to research on the perspectives of International Human Rights Law on domestic violence in Ghana which primarily,examines the setbacks of International,Regional and Domestic Legal Mechanisms in fighting against domestic violence in Ghana.Using a non-quantitative approach,the study tells of notable case studies of serious domestic violence in Ghana amidst reasons for serious domestic violence in Ghana being education,influence of cultural norms of specific regions in Ghana and poverty as a cause of domestic violence in Ghana which are sourced from journal articles,books,reports and reviews.It further focuses on the existing International,Regional and Domestic Legal Mechanisms of fighting against Domestic Violence in Ghana with great mention on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women by the United Nations,the Protocol to the African Charter on human and People's Rights,the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice of the Republic of Ghana(CHRAJ),the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit(DOVVSU)and their efforts in fighting against domestic violent issues in Ghana.Finally,this dissertation provides recommendations on fighting against Domestic Violence in Ghana from International Human Rights Perspective,taking into consideration some issues discussed during the Fifty-ninth Session Summary Record of the 1253 rd meeting of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women Held at the Palais des Nations,Geneva,on Friday,24 October 2014 and recommendations by the researcher among others,which includes introducing independent reporting performance by officials of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit in Ghana,ensuring the adoption of the United Nations Resolution 18/147 on Domestic Violence and to oblige the Legislative Council of Ghana to conform to International and Regional Legal Policy Frameworks on Domestic Violence which will be further discussed this study.
