Practical Research On Social Work Intervention In Community Volunteer Capability Improvement

Community volunteer service in China has been developing well since it came into being in 1987.But there are still many problems in it.One of the problems is that the low capability of community volunteers.Chinese scholars believe that training can effectively improve the capability of community volunteers.However,in the process of actually participating in community volunteer training,it is found that the existing training was difficult to meet the needs of community volunteers.Therefore,from the perspective of social work,the study using professional social work methods intervene in the process of community volunteers'capability improvement.Professional social work methods effectively improve the capability of community volunteers.Research has contributed to the development of community volunteer service in China.This paper introduced the current situation of community volunteer training in China,summarized the advantages and achievements,and analyzed the problems in the existing training.After that,this paper designed a phased and hierarchical capability improvement program for community volunteers basing on the perspective of social work.Through casework,group work and practical action,community volunteer capability improvement program try to improve the capability of community volunteers at the personal level,interpersonal level and environment level.In the case work stage,social worker established a working relationship with each volunteer,assessed their capability,collected their capability improvement needs,and designed community volunteer capability improvement program for them.In the group work stage,social worker provided service for community volunteers and community volunteer leaders respectively,improved the capability of community volunteers at the personal level and interpersonal level.In the practical action stage,social worker assisted commununity volunteers to provide community volunteer service.In the process of community volunteer service,the community volunteers used the knowledge and skill that they have learned.And community volunteer service can create a good community volunteer service atmosphere in the community,the capability at the environmental level has been improved.This paper took a community volunteer service team in Dalian as the object,carrying out practical work and verifying the effectiveness of community volunteer capability improvement program.During the practical work,the study found that capability improvement program could improve the personal and interpersonal capability of community volunteers effectively,but the changing of the capability at environment level wasn't obvious.In addition,the study found that the capability improvement program can be embedded into community social work service projects.Social workers can provide service for community volunteers during community social work service projects,this practice can not only promote the development of community volunteer service,but also provide human resources to support community social work practice.This is a way to solve the shortage of human resources in social work.
