With the continuous development of Suzhou society and economy,the continuous advancement of urbanization,the continuous increase of urban population and total number of motor vehicles,the problem of traffic congestion in Suzhou is becoming more and more serious.Urban traffic congestion not only affects the efficiency of citizens' travel,but also increases social costs and restricts the rapid development of cities.Therefore,the government needs to give full play to its role in functioning to manage urban traffic congestion and ensure the healthy development of urban transportation.Firstly,this paper analyses the current situation of urban traffic congestion control in Suzhou and outlines the current governance measures.From the aspects of road network structure,public transport attraction,traffic management,increasing demand for motor vehicles and awareness of rules of traffic participants,the problems of traffic congestion control are discussed.Then,from the perspective of public goods supply and public policy,this paper deeply analyzed the reasons for the problems of urban traffic congestion control in Suzhou.On the basis of drawing lessons from foreign experience of urban traffic congestion control and combining with the characteristics of Suzhou city,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for urban traffic congestion control in Suzhou,from the aspects of improving the capacity of urban roads,vigorously developing public transport,strengthening the traffic management level of government departments,perfecting relevant policies and strengthening green civilization travel.It is expected to provide some ideas for urban traffic congestion control in Suzhou and improve the efficiency of urban traffic operation in Suzhou.
