Study On The Problems Of Traffic Congestion Governance And Countermeasure In Phnom Penh City,Cambodia

The traffic congestion of urban central road in Phnom Penh city is becoming more and more serious,the road traffic is faced with serious space restriction,the rapid growth of traffic demand and the road situation in Phnom Penh city from a prominent contradiction.So,in order to put forward valuable research achievement to solve traffic problems and promote traffic congestion in Phnom Penh city,this paper studies on current situation of traffic congestion governance in Phnom Penh city according to the relevant theory of urban traffic congestion and points out the problems and causes of traffic congestion governance in Phnom Penh City.The conclusions are as follows:1.Phnom Penh city has formulated and implemented measures to strengthen traffic construction infrastructure,increase public transport vehicles and routes,regulate traffic order,and formulate new traffic laws and regulations for solving traffic congestion problems in Phnom Penh city.There are many problems in traffic congestion governance in Phnom Penh,including lack of public transport system,weak comprehensive management ability of urban traffic,inefficiency of road use,and lack of management and educated pedestrians’ consciousness of obeying traffic rules.2.Causes of traffic congestion governance in Phnom Penh city including as following: first,underdevelopment of urban development planning,which is related to the history of traffic governance in Phnom Penh city,low technical level of traffic planning and serious parking gap.Second,limitation of urban traffic governance,mainly reflected in the backwardness of traffic management mode,slow improvement of traffic congestion management system,and high frequency of traffic accident in Phnom Penh city.Third,lack of public transportation which shows lead to increasing quantity of private cars growth higher,insufficient road space,traffic congestion governance insufficient,such as punishment and traffic education policy,high demand on traffic governance fund and so on.3.Recommendation for this paper on traffic governance in Phnom Penh city experiences of the traffic governance in some countries in Asean and China City which concludes intelligent traffic management system and the effective control of the number of private cars.Beside this also the priority to public transportation,attention to the overall planning of traffic governance,investment on traffic management to control traffic congestion and to improve public participation.
