Analysis Of Factors Affecting The Life Satisfaction Of Single People

In recent years,the marriage rate in China has been decreasing year by year,while the divorce rate has been increasing year by year.In 2018,10.139 million couples in China registered their marriages in accordance with the law,down 4.6 percent from the previous year,with 48,000 couples registered for marriage involving overseas Chinese and residents of Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan,according to the 2018 civil affairs career development statistics bulletin.The marriage rate was 7.3 per 1,000,down 0.4 per 1,000 from the previous year,the lowest since 2008.At the same time,4.461 million couples registered for divorce in accordance with the law,an increase of 2.0 percent over the previous year.Building a stable family is no longer an inevitable choice for the marriageable:On the one hand,the slowly changing outlook on love and marriage,coupled with factors such as the pressure to buy a house and the pressure of life,have led many people to believe that a single life can ease their troubles Reduce the pressure of family life;on the other hand,the diversity of social life also let the single life of social pressure reduced year by year.Therefore,in recent years,China's single population has reached a relatively large scale,with more than 200 million single people and more than 77 million people living alone,according to the 2018 civil affairs career development statistics bulletin Single people have become an important part of society.Such a large single population,their life status,life stress and life satisfaction is an important part of social stability and harmony.However,the research on life satisfaction of single people is almost blank at present.In the study of life satisfaction,the main focus has been on the satisfaction of family life,however,the single population and the ordinary family have different demands in many aspects,the traditional research methods of life satisfaction can not be directly used for the single population,it is necessary to study the life satisfaction of single people on the basis of traditional methods.Based on the existing research on the construction of life satisfaction index system,this paper constructs a life satisfaction index system for evaluating single people,and uses the related data in the CFPS database for empirical analysis.In this paper,Lasso selection method is used to effectively screen out the important variables and reduce the estimation error as far as possible:First,the important variables are screened out from 44 variables,and then the regression coefficients of the screened variables are estimated and tested with significance.The regression results showed that:1 Gender,a personal characteristic variable,had a significant effect on life satisfaction,and single women had higher life satisfaction and enjoyed single life;215 variables were selected by Lasso and were statistically significant Among them,the higher status,higher income in the local level,the higher frequency of meeting with their parents,the higher degree of satisfaction with themselves and the happier single people felt in their lives.It's worth noting that the 15 most important variables that had a significant impact on life satisfaction were largely subjective.3 The three variables reflecting economic status were selected by Lasso method,but only the two indicators of local status and income at local level passed the significance test,while the variable of gross income,which directly reflects income level,was not selected In other words,the single people are more concerned about their own economic level compared to those around them,which shows that the external environment has a more serious impact on life satisfaction.4 in the dimensions of mental and physical health,indicators reflecting overall health status did not pass the significance test,and the sleep status variable passed the significance test,which means that the single population is now overstressed Good sleep quality has a greater impact on life satisfaction.Through the empirical analysis of male and female,urban and rural,and age groups,we can see that there are some differences among different classification samples.Compared with single men and single women,women are more concerned about subjective feelings and comfort and convenience,while men are more concerned about objective variables such as job security and whether they have a housing fund.At the same time,it should be noted that in terms of physical and mental health,health status has a greater impact on men's life satisfaction.The relative gap between urban and rural areas is not very large,basically consistent with the overall sample,the main gap lies in urban single people more concerned about the promotion space,commuting convenience and other factors.At the same time,there is a big difference in life satisfaction among different age groups.Single people aged 20-35 are more concerned about income,subjective feeling,can't stand loneliness,and are eager to meet their parents Single people aged 36-50 are more likely to be stressed about their parents'retirement and their own retirement,focusing on income-related factors,while single people over 51 are less likely to consider economic factors such as income,and more likely to be concerned about their health In particular,changes in health status on their life satisfaction more obvious impact.Overall,the empirical results show that,compared with family life satisfaction,the impact of single people's life satisfaction is more from the contrast or subjective factors,that is to say,subjective feelings have a greater impact than objective variables.Personal feelings are highly correlated with their internal references,often by contrast with their surroundings.The closer you are to your potential goals,the more satisfied you will be.There are two innovations in this paper:(1)enrich the research on life satisfaction of single people;(2)add some new variables,such as commuting time,sleeping time,etc.,to construct the index of life satisfaction,which can have a more intuitive embodiment.(3)choosing Lasso method to filter can effectively avoid the influence of correlation among variables.The disadvantage of this paper is that the data are not analyzed according to the classification of cities,and the life satisfaction level of urban population with different development level may be different.
