| In global context,cross cultural communication has become the main characteristics among cultural communication nowadays.The communication among countries is not only for the leader and related foreign affair officers,it is also mean the communication on the virtual network.Social media is emerging from this background,and Weibo is one of the most representative product among those social media.Since the set up of the governmental weibo of U.S.Consulate General in Shanghai from January,2013,the total posts have reached to 10 thousand and the followers are already over 50 thousand,so it is a decent case for the research of cross cultural communication with its considerable posts and followers.This paper discusses the 443 posts from 1st October,2018 to 31st December,2018 through a systematic sampling method,then exploring audience responses which will affect the communication result through the case discussing and user’s interviewing method.The paper aims to showing out the cross-cultural communication strategy from the governmental weibo of U.S.Consulate General in Shanghai after analyzing its communication method within the weibo.Furthermore,the analysis is paving ways for our own country’s cross-cultural communication weibo going abroad.This study is divided into 5 parts.The introduction explains the background and purpose of this research and summarizes the working results from related domestic and abroad analysis,then the research questions are mentioned while the framework of this paper is outlined.The second part mainly introduces some basic concepts and theories will be used in this research.The third part plays the biggest role of the paper,it presents the communication strategy of the governmental weibo of U.S.Consulate General in Shanghai from quantitative analyzing of the weibo’s main situation,subjects distribution,discourse and sign using method.The fourth part takes one post which has amassed considerable ’Likes’,’Repost’ and ’Comment’ as an example,analyzing the post from the perspective of users’ responses.Then the writer interviews 30 users of Weibo in depth to talk about their own thoughts and advices for investigating the extent of interacting between the ’host’ and the ’other’.The fifth part sums up the communication strategy of the governmental weibo of U.S.Consulate General in Shanghai and inspires our own cross-cultural governmental weibo to do a better job in future. |
