Gannan In The Eyes Of Western Scholars In The 1930s

In early 1924,Western scholar Joseph Rock began his Gannan expedition.The research object of this paper is mainly about Rock's investigation of the Zhuo Ni Lama Temple in Gannan region in the 1930 s and the observation of the social situation in Gannan Tibetan region.The author looks up the relevant literature and combs the general situation and influence of Rock on the cross-cultural communication of Tibetan religious culture in Gannan region at that time.This thesis takes Rock's article recorded at Zhuoni Lama Temple as a case study object and collates the Chinese and foreign historical materials to study Gannan culture.From the perspective of cross-cultural communication,this paper uses the theory of ritual communication,semiotics and ethnographic communication to present a Tibetan impression in the eyes of western scholars.Rock's value to Gannan's cross-cultural communication lies in exploring the western part of China and publishing articles western mainstream media.Finally,through the overall analysis of the cross-cultural communication of Gannan culture by Chinese and Western scholars,the cross-text of Gannan culture by Rock.It compares it with the Tibetan society in the eyes of Chinese scholar Fan Changjiang and others and analyzes the value and significance of Rock's cross-cultural communication to Gannan culture from the perspective of ethnographic research methods.This paper provides some references for the foreign dissemination of minority culture and propagandizes,disseminates minority culture,which can not only enhance the cultural exchange between minority culture and Han culture,but also promote national unity.The spread of rich and colorful religious culture in Gannan region can attract more people from the western world to understand Gannan and promote the social development of Gannan.It is of great significance to promote the cross-cultural communication of Gannan culture and to develop the economy,tourism,culture and religion of Gannan region,while providing some thinking and understanding for the cross-cultural communication of religious culture in Northwest minority areas.
