A Study On The Crisis Of Police Credibility From The Perspective Of Police-related Emergencies

The construction of the credibility of the government's functional departments is the top priority of the current government's work.As an important functional department of the government,the police department has become one of the important roles of the government in the public cognition and represents the image of the government.In the environment of increasing social competition and accelerating pace of social change,people also have higher expectations on the efficiency and fairness of law enforcement of the police,especially in the face of emergencies involving the police.Due to the urgency of time,the seriousness of the situation,and the high degree of the social concern,if the police do not handle the incident properly,it is easy to cause the decline of the credibility of the police,and then affects the credibility of the government.How to maintain the credibility of the police in dealing with emergencies is an urgent problem to be studied and solved,which is also the focus of this paper.First of all,this paper combs the relevant literature,and analyzes several domestic and foreign research materials and theories of emergencies involving the police and the public credibility of the police.Then,it sorts out and analyzes the handling cases of emergencies involving the police through the Internet,and summarizes three main factors that affect the public credibility of the police under the police related emergencies: the police behavior factor,the media behavior factor and the public behavior factor.Besides,on the basis of the case of Yang Jia assaulting the police,this paper analyzes the relationships among these three factors and their influences on the credibility of the police through the combination of theory and practice.Finally,it proposes five measures and suggestions to solve the crisis of the police credibility: the first is to change the concept of law enforcement of the police and be good at using legal means to solve the problem;the second is to strengthen the construction of police integrity,standardize police power and protect public rights;the third is to strengthen police service function and improve the relationship between the police and the public to obtain trust;the fourth is to improve the ability of public opinion guidance and control,and positively guide and protect the public's rights to know;the fifth is to improve the crisis handling mechanism and combine prevention and control to turn public trust crisis into an opportunity.The main research results of this paper are the factor analysis and measures of the police credibility crisis under the police related emergencies,which has a certain practical guiding significance for the police to improve the credibility and on repairing the trust between the police and the public,and also has a certain reference value for the government departmentsin the system design.
