Taking the national interest as the criterion is a relatively simple way to analyze the foreign policy of the country.From the perspective of national interest theory,this paper uses historical research method and qualitative research method to analyze the national interests of South Korea in the Korean nuclear issue,and discusses the deep-seated reasons that affect the national interests of South Korea in the Korean nuclear issue,which is conducive to a fundamental understanding of the current situation of the Korean nuclear issue and South Korea's diplomatic behavior.First of all,this paper explains in detail the concept and category of national interests in international politics and their role in foreign policy analysis,which provides theoretical support for the study of Korean national interests in the DPRK nuclear issue.Secondly,a country's national policy in a certain issue can more directly reflect a country's national interests in this issue.Therefore,under the guidance of the theory of national interests,through the study and analysis of the principles and policies of successive Korean governments on the North Korean nuclear issue,it reflects the South Korean security,political,economic and cultural interests in the North Korean nuclear issue.Then,in t erms of security,political,economic and cultural interests,the Korean national interests in the DPRK nuclear issue are analyzed in detail.Finally,from the geopolitical factors,domestic factors and international factors on the factors affecting South Korea's national interests in the North Korean nuclear issue,it is concluded that the North Korean nuclear issue is both a crisis and a turning point for medium-sized countries such as South Korea.In the DPRK nuclear issue,South Korea needs not only to handle the relations between South Korea and the United States and between South Korea and other countries,but also to make good use of the existing mechanism of talks to focus on the overall international situation and safeguard the national interests of South Korea and peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
