The Mediterranean Sea is located at the junction of the Maritime Silk Road and the Land Silk Road, connecting Eurasia,Africa and Africa.Sino-Europe maritime trade must pass through here. The Mediterranean Sea,as an important channel of Europe-Asia-Africa,is a shortcut for merchant ships of various countries to trade in the Atlantic,Indian Ocean and the Pacific in the context of the “Belt and Road”initiative(BRI).Therefore, the Mediterranean has become an important strategic region for the construction of the BRI,and an area that needs to be emphasized in Sino-Europe maritime cooperation. The “Sino-Europe 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation”,as a guiding document for Sino-Europe cooperation, has mentioned cooperation in the marine field many times. In the context of the BRI,the common maritime view and maritime policy of China and Europe laid the foundation for the Sino-Europe Mediterranean maritime cooperation. At present,China and the EU have continued cooperation in the fields of maritime security, marine industry, maritime channels, maritime energy and environment, but there are also certain risks.Especially in recent years,China has frequently cooperated with the small countries along the Mediterranean coast and CEEC,Which caused Western Europe and EU countries to worry that China will use cooperation to “split Europe” and undermine “Europe cohesion”.Based on this, this study suggests that in the future, the “holistic Europe”perspective should be emphasized in the Sino-Europe Mediterranean maritime cooperation, the public diplomacy should be used to weaken the suspicion and pay attention to port cooperation. At the same time,China government is advised to focus on the role of the coastal states like Greek and Macedonian, strengthen the integration of the BRI with the EU ‘s Danube strategy and Juncker plan,to promote the construction of a community of marine fate in the Mediterranean region.
