An Analysis Of The Protection Of Refugee Children In The United Nations

Children are the future of human beings,and the protection of children is the general consensus of the international community.However,today’s world is not peaceful.There are still frequent armed conflicts in some areas.Regional armed conflicts are one of the focuses of the international community.The emergence of refugee children is synchronous with the development of war and armed conflict.Refugee children are in an extremely bad environment,not only facing serious famine,high proportion of malnutrition,large-scale gender violence and other humanitarian crises,but also suffering from various diseases.Children’s rights in war are greatly violated.Although refugee children caused by war and armed conflict all have their corresponding protection subjects,they are limited by the protection capacity and lack of aid funds,as well as the differences of political and economic interests between the protection subjects,which lead to many difficulties in the humanitarian protection of refugee children,such as limited humanitarian access.Although the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child,the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict and other international regulations have made corresponding provisions on the protection of children’s rights in armed conflict,the protection of children’s rights and interests in real war is extremely difficult to achieve.In today’s global integration,the problem of refugee children is no longer a single,regional problem,which has a comprehensive impact on the economic,political,social security and other aspects of the world.This study takes the Syrian civil war as an example,starts with the specific cases of Syrian refugee children protection,and deeply analyzes the causes of refugee children and the current situation and difficulties of the United Nations to protect refugee children,and based on this,puts forward the corresponding strategies to improve the ability of the United Nations to protect refugee children.In this regard,the United Nations and the international community have made great efforts.This paper analyzes the causes of refugee children in three aspects: the political causes include political persecution,war and armed conflict;the economic causes include economic globalization and the serious polarization between the rich and the poor in the world economic development,as well as the weak economic foundation of refugee children’s families.In addition,in the war environment,economic income comes from The destruction of the source and the lack of economic anti risk ability will also have a certain impact on the emergence of refugee children;in terms of culture,cultural conflict is also a factor leading to the emergence of refugee children,and the state and national culture affect what kind of solutions people take in the face of conflict.At the same time,with the progress of world civilization,people pay more and more attention to the protection of children’s rights in war and armed conflict,which also needs to be solved urgently.In terms of the current situation of the protection of the rights of refugee children in the United Nations,taking the Syrian civil war from March 2011 to the present as an example,this gate expounds the war and armed conflict,which not only drag the Syrian economy into the abyss,but also make the Syrian people live in the abyss,especially a large number of Syrian children,escape from the country and become refugees.In this process,they are slaughtered or maimed,kidnapped,deprived of the right to education and health care,forced to separate from their families or even sold.UNHCR and UNICEF help Syrian refugee children within their own capabilities.In this process,the plight of the United Nations in protecting refugee children is further revealed.The dilemma is mainly manifested in three aspects: first,the United Nations is unable to meet the actual needs of refugee children protection in terms of funds,organizations and personnel;second,the United Nations has a lot of difficulties in coordinating the international community to form a joint effort to protect refugee children;third,the mechanism of cooperation between the United Nations and other international organizations to protect refugee children is not perfect.In view of the plight of the United Nations in protecting refugee children,the United Nations needs to make efforts in the following aspects: first,in terms of the direct action of the United Nations,the United Nations should assist the countriesconcerned with refugee children to implement the protection action,increase the coordination of other international subjects in the international community,such as countries and international organizations,to protect refugee children together,and build the organizations and institutions in the conflict areas to coordinate refugee children Second,in the direction of efforts to solve refugee children’s problems,we should strengthen the ideals and beliefs of solving refugee children’s problems from the root,and further improve the international law and judicial system for the protection of refugee children;third,we should improve the United Nations refugee child protection mechanism,the refugee child protection system within the framework of the United Nations,and the protection of refugee children within the framework of the United Nations Supervision mechanism and emergency rescue mechanism for refugee children protection.
