The Research On Jameson's Theory Of Ideology And Its Contemporary Value

Fredric Jameson,an American contemporary Marxist theoretical researcher,took the basic principles of Marxism as his perspective,constructed his ideology theory from the "Cultural Ideology".Jameson aimed at two aspects: one is to respond to the theory of "out of date" of Marxism and reconstruct the ideological theory of Marxism;the other is to reveal the ideological nature of postmodern culture.This dissertation adopts the methodology of unifying logic and history,and tries to describe the whole picture of Jameson's ideology theory.The study of Jameson's ideology theory will help us to understand the ideological nature of contemporary capitalist culture and give effective enlightenment to Chinese ideological work.For the sake of his theoretical construction,Jameson inherited Marx's ideology theory and combined some other doctrines,like the Western Marxism ideology theory,psychoanalysis theory and semiotics theory etc.Furthermore,he divided various modes of ideology theory to build up the basic connotation of the "cultural ideology" theory through the analysis of the characteristics and functions of ideology.In the face of various new phenomena arisen in the field of contemporary capitalist social culture,Jameson thought that contemporary capitalist culture is an ideology and explained his ideas as the following aspects.First of all,Jameson regarded the Marxism's Hermeneutics as a weapon for analysis and criticism,so as to point out the ideological nature of contemporary capital culture text.Secondly,Jameson took historical materialism as the core,divided the development of capitalist culture into three periods: realism,modernism and post-modernism.And then he analyzed the ideological features of postmodernism culture.Finally,Jameson took historical materialism as the basic perspective to analyze and criticize the cultural phenomena of contemporary capitalist society,such as post-modernism culture,consumerism culture and cultural globalization,and strived for the solution strategy of "cognitive mapping".Jameson's theory brings enlightenment to China at present.In the aspect of theoretical value,Jameson's theory expands the new concept of Marxist ideological theory,responds to the new changes in the ideological field in the 20 th century,and reveals the new cultural logic of the ideological operation of consumer society.In the aspect of practical value,Jameson's ideology theory glows inspirations to contemporary Chinese ideological work.Nowadays,with the trend of closer interchange between Chinese and western culture,China should expand the extension of ideological work,attach importance to the construction of socialist culture,and consider the ideological security in the era of globalization,so as to ensure the discourse power of Marxism in the field of ideology.
