A Study On The Development Status And Prospects Of The "Belt And Road" Initiative In India

Since the "Belt and Road" initiative was put forward,it has received wildly positive response from the countries along the route,which has gradually transformed from concept to practice and from vision to reality.As an important neighbour in South Asian and the largest country in the Indian subcontinent,India plays a vital role to the connectivity of China's "Belt and Road" initiative in terms of geographical connection,strategic trade cooperation,as well as development of economic communities.However,India,the only country in South Asian that has not participate in the "Belt and Road" initiative,still holds a sceptical and negative attitude about it.India's one-sided perception of the "Belt and Road" initiative has not only seriously affected bilateral cooperation with China,but also intensified security tensions in South Asia.This paper expounds the current situation of the development of the "Belt and Road" initiative in India,analyzes the reasons for India's passive and cautious attitude towards the "Belt and Road" initiative,and probes into the development prospects of the "Belt and Road" initiative in India.On the basis,the paper puts forward the development path and policy recommendations of the "Belt and Road" initiative in India.This paper shows that India's attitude to the "Belt and Road" initiative mainly depends on the balance between national interests in the geopolitical and economic game.While selectively participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative,India concerns about the development of the "Belt and Road" initiative in the Indo-Pacific region and puts forward its own countermeasures for economic,political and security reasons.In the long run,the "Belt and Road" initiative has broad prospects for India's development,as the "Belt and Road" initiative is not only feasible for development,but also has a solid and sustainable implementation.Finally,this paper points out three major measures including deepening practical cooperation in economic and trade development,building connectivity partnerships between regional cooperation,and building a community of shared future of mankind in strategic development,which can promote the "Belt and Road" initiative in India's development.
