"The theory of farmland social security" attributes the problems in the development of urban-rural integration to the long-term existence of the social security function of farmland, such as the lag of rural social security, the damage to the rights and interests of landless farmers, and the difficulty of farmland transfer.Because of the social security function of land, farmland has become the most basic life security for farmers, become the old-age security for the elderly, and unemployment security for migrant workers,so that farmers would rather give up their farmland than give up their farmland contract rights. It is also because the farmland has a social security function that the government has ignored the provision of rural social security products, causing a huge gap in the development of social security in urban and rural areas. However, with the advancement of urbanization, the rural social security system has been continuously improved, and the proportion of non-agricultural income in farmers' income has increased, for most farmers, the acres of arable land assets contracted by the family can no longer meet the basic living needs. So,under such a realistic background, does farmland still have a social security function? Where does the social security function of farmland come from? How much is it worth? What factors affect the social security function? This requires us to re-examine the "farmland social security theory",trace back to the source,to better understand the essence of the Chinese farmers 's social security problem. To answer the above questions, based on the historical review of China's farmland and social security system, explored the historical origin of the farmland social security function, and analyzes the formation logic of farmland social security functions from three levels: farmers, society and policy.Secondly, using the decomposition and summation method and the alternative market method, calculate the social security value of farmland in Gansu province from 1978 to 2017,to reveal succession laws and development trends. Finally, the factors influencing the social security function of unit farmland are empirically measured by the method of multiple regression. To provide a reference for the reform and development of China's agricultural land system and social security system. The following conclusions are obtained:?Since ancient times, farmland has been the foundation of farmers' life.As a traditional agricultural society, farmland income has been used to pay the basic expenses of rural residents' family life, and also to deal with various life risks, which is the last life security guarantee for farmers.?China's farmland has social security function is the continuation of the thought of valuing agriculture and land plot for thousands of years.Urban-rural dual pattern is the realistic basis and the farmland system is the institutional basis for the existence of farmland social security functions.?The function of social security for farmland is gradually weakening, and presents the ladder-curve succession law.Based on the calculation results of the Gansu Province's social security value, the social security function of farmland corresponds to the development stage of the rural social security system, each time the rural social security system is improved, the social security function of farmland is reduced by a step. With the advancement of urban and rural social security integration, farmland will enter the market as a pure economic factor, and the social security function will be stripped from farmland and extended to production and ecological functions.?The proportion of household non-agricultural income, the per capita cultivated land area, the degree of social security participation, and the degree of farmland transfer all have a negative effect on the social security function of farmland per unit area.
