Rural areas have always been an important foundation for China's political development and social stability. With the introduction of policies, such as rural revitalization, rural vitality will be further stimulated.Despite this great opportunity, its own long-term stability can't be ignored. In the new period, interaction of various factors and imbalance of social resource distribution are becoming more and more prominent. If the stability of rural society is not highly valued,it will not only restrict its development, hinder rural revitalization, but also be detrimental to the construction of a stable society. One of the purposes of the birth of villagers' self-governance is to maintain stability of rural society. That is,“(self-)governance” means the maintenance of rural social stability.Villagers' self-governance is also the main system of maintaining rural social stability at this stage.Villagers' self-governance can maintain rural social stability in the aspects of political basis, economic support and cultural security from the perspectives of system design and theoretical level.Rural social stability,in return, can promote rural social development. The existing research on rural social stability mostly regards villagers' self-governance as an influencing factor.Especially with the development of society, some problems related to villagers' self-governance have evolved into those of rural social stability. Those researchs has ignored the importantinfluence and function of villagers' self-governance on the current rural social stability in China. The function of villagers' self-governance on stability of rural areas and its mechanism are worth studying. In the literature of studying rural social stability, most of them also focus on the description of the problem and the induction of influencing factors, and rarely place these factors in the view of villagers' self-governance to carry out research.Taking the Villagers' self-governance system as the background, this paper explores the realization of rural social stability under different degree of autonomy, and explores the intrinsic relationship between villagers' self-governance and rural social stability through the connotation of literature and theory and conceptualization.Secondly, according to the author's field investigation on the three places in Jiangxi Province, this paper describes the local villagers' self-governance and rural social stability, and analyzes the results obtained by the interview.According to the level of villagers' self-governance is divided into: High level villager autonomy, moderate level of villager autonomy, less developed villager autonomy. The stability of rural society under three levels of autonomy presents different situations, including the institutionalized stability formed by the development of advantages under the level of high autonomy, the stability of swing formed under the level of moderate autonomy, and the possibility of the lack and deterioration of stability under underdeveloped autonomy. The concept of institutional environment and autonomy value in three autonomous levels has an impact on rural social stability to varying degrees.Combined with the characteristics of rural social development and rural revitalization opportunities,as well as platform theory,on the one hand,it is necessary to improve the development of villagers' self-governance system institutionalized stability.Secondly,it is necessary to continuously improve the concept of autonomy value and lay a stable cultural and value Foundation. On the other hand,we can try to develop villagers' self-governance platform and promote higher level rural social stability.Weshould improve autonomy, deepen autonomy, implement grass-roots democracy, give full play to the great advantages of villager autonomy, promote rural social development, and further promote rural social stability under villager autonomy.
