Imblance And Integration:a Study On Majue And Its Rituals In Dongtai Village Of Hexi Corridor

This paper takes the religious figure majue(similar to shaman)and its ritual activities in the eastern village of the Hexi Corridor as research objects.From the perspective of anthropological observation,using functionalism and ritual analysis theory,and by participating in observation and cultural experience,the characteristics,significance,symbols and functions of majue ritual activities are understood around the two themes of imbalance and integration.Majue is a belief medium for people to communicate with gods,ghosts and ancestors.This paper focuses on two aspects:First,majue,a low-level,hidden ritual operator in the local society,we need to understand that his identity has changed through strange experiences,from normal to crazy and then to sacred.In this way,it possesses mana,gains the dual identity of human and god,and reveals its conceptual world of god,ghosts,body and disease.Second,we need to make specific description and in-depth analysis of many ritual activities of majue,in an attempt to present the overall picture of the ritual activities of majue comprehensively and objectively,try to understand the profound meaning behind,deeply describe the underlying,integrated,diffuse religious cultural phenomena in daily life.I try to explore how majue integrates religious and cultural resources,solves many problems in society,reflects the initiative and subjectivity in the context of the coexistence and integration of multiple religions in the Hexi Corridor.I also intend to summarize and extend Victor Turner's ritual analysis theory,and use the intensive and cultural concept of "imbalance" to refer to many causes of ritual activities as a powerful tool for ritual analysis.According to the nature and purpose of rituals,I classify the rituals to the imbalance of the body,the imbalance of life opportunity,and the imbalance ofspace.Under each classification,three kinds of ceremony are listed respectively,which are soul-seeking ritual,exorcism ritual,healing ritual,luck-improving ritual,marriage-seeking ritual,kid-bolting ritual,soil-thanking ritual,goblin-subduing ritual,and village-praying ritual.Imbalance is the deviation and dislocation of normal and balanced state,while harmony and balance is the ideal type in daily life.The ritual of majue is to reverse,correct and adjust the imbalance,rebuild order and achieve balance.At the same time,with the help of ritual activities,the three levels of integration between people,between people and the mysterious world,as well as the macro world order,make multiple subjects conform to the world of normative constraints,keep their own positions and boundaries,in order to achieve the transformation from disorder to order.
