The Overseas Chinese Affairs Of The Chinese Embassy And Consulates In Indonesia(1950-1967)

The personnel of representative offices abroad have direct contact with overseas Chinese and play a crucial role in the implementation of overseas Chinese affairs policies.In order to study how does the role of embassy and consulates work as bridge,this article takes the work of overseas Chinese affairs of Chinese embassy and consulates in Indonesia from 1950-1967 as an example,collect and organize relevant literature such as archives,memoirs,to summarize and analyze how Chinese embassy and consulates carried out overseas Chinese affairs in Indonesia during this period and what impact they had on the overseas Chinese.Through research,the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in Indonesia went to various places to publicize policies on overseas Chinese dispute,deal with overseas Chinese affairs,encourage Chinese newspapers and periodicals to promote the image of new China,support Chinese schools in carrying forward Chinese culture,and guide overseas Chinese communities in training overseas Chinese leaders,the smooth development of all aspects of work has enabled the overseas Chinese in Indonesia to strengthen their ties with China.Indonesia's anti-China actions prompted China to withdraw its overseas Chinese,in the process the staff of the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in Indonesia go to various places to count and register the list of returnees,negotiate with the local government to deal with the return procedures of overseas Chinese,arrange the arrival of overseas Chinese at boarding points,the series of measures to arrange the return of overseas Chinese has greatly enhanced the pride and sense of belonging of Indonesian overseas Chinese to China.In the 1950 s and 1960 s,antiChinese activities in Indonesia brought great harm to the overseas Chinese in Indonesia,while,the policies of the Chinese government towards the overseas Chinese in Indonesia,the guidance of the Chinese embassy and consulates in Indonesia to the overseas Chinese in Indonesia,the positive interactions between the two sides and the objective facts caused by them are also worth reflecting.In accordance with the overseas Chinese affairs policy,which is the product of domestic policies,overseas Chinese work always has Chinese characteristics,Chinese embassy and consulates abroad should put themselves in take into account the Long-term livelihood of overseas Chinese and work in accordance with local conditions.
