Academic procrastination refers to the behavior of the learner who delays the academic responsibility(unnecessary delay)in the process of completing the learning task or achieving the learning goal,and is accompanied by feelings such as guilt,anxiety and depression.Academic delay behavior will not only affect the completion of academic activities,but also affect the actual level of learners' play.Habitual or long-term academic delay will have different degrees of adverse effects on the formation of individual learners,and even damage their mental health.Accepting the elite education,postgraduates are at the top of the pyramid of talent,hence an important force of scientific research and social services.However,academic delays have become important issues that prevent them from fulfilling their educational responsibilities and developing educational potential.In the context of advocating national health,postgraduates were selected as the research objects in this study,to explore the status of academic procrastination,and further analyze the effects of self-efficacy for self-regulated learning and achievement goal orientation on academic procrastination.This can provide a reference for school administrators to solve the problem of graduate education,and contribute to graduate tutor to master the procrastination in postgraduate study.At the same time,it is hoped that the feedback of the research results is helpful for the graduate students to understand and treat the academic procrastination correctly,and to explore the effective methods to overcome the academic procrastination.In this study,510 postgraduates from Gansu,Shanxi,Beijing,Tianjin,Hebei,Inner Mongolia,Sichuan and Shanghai were selected as the research objects,and the graduate procrastination scale,Self-efficacy for self-regulated learning Scale and achievement goal orientation scale were used as the research tool to conduct a questionnaire survey.The survey data was analyzed by descriptive statistics,independent sample t test,multivariate analysis of variance,correlation analysis,regression analysis,and mediating effect test.Research indicates that:1.In postgraduates,77.0% of the students have different degrees of academic procrastination,in other words,postgraduate procrastination is common.However,from the level of procrastination,the overall delay in the degree of graduate students is not high,want to reduce the expectations of procrastination is on the high side.Among the six academic tasks,the degree of procrastination in the study of academic literature is the highest,with postgraduates participating in the academic activities the lowest.The degrees of academic procrastination of the other four tasks in a descending sequence are as follows: writing term papers and assignments,publishing papers,writing graduation thesis,and accomplishing tasks assigned by tutors.2.There are significant differences in gender,discipline and training patterns of postgraduate procrastination.The extent of delay of female students is significantly higher than that of male postgraduates.However,females are obviously more eager to improve the status quo.Students of literature and history procrastinate heavily than those of science and engineering.The delay in college students is significantly higher than that of male graduate students.Academic masters are more easily captured by procrastination than professional masters.3.Postgraduates' self-efficacy for self-regulated learning overall is above average.Self-efficacy for self-regulated learning differs in gender and discipline.Female postgraduates' efficacy is significantly higher than males,postgraduates of literature and history higher than those of science and engineering.There is no significant difference between academic masters and professional masters.4.Achievement Goal Orientation of postgraduate students is more inclined to mastery and accessibility.Prominent differences appear among academic masters and professional masters.Moreover,academic masters show more performance avoidance.No significant distinctions exist in gender and discipline in the achievement goal orientation.5.Postgraduates' academic procrastination and self-efficacy for self-regulated learning are negatively correlated.Nevertheless,reduced expectation and self-efficacy for self-regulated learning are positively correlated.There is a clear negative relation between graduate students' goal orientation and academic delay.The orientation of performance avoidance,mastery of avoidance goal orientation,and performance accessibility are positively correlated.There is a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy for self-regulated learning and the orientation of performance accessibility,mastery of accessibility orientation,and mastery of avoidance orientation.6.The self-efficacy for self-regulated learning of postgraduates has a significant negative predictive effect on academic delay.Postgraduates' results avoidance orientation and achievement accessibility orientation have significant positive predictive effects on academic procrastination.7.The self-efficacy for self-regulated learning has a shadowing effect on mastery avoidance goal orientation and academic procrastination tendency;the self-efficacy for self-regulated learning has a shadowing effect on mastery avoidance goal orientation and Causes of academic procrastination;the self-efficacy for self-regulated learning has a shadowing effect on performance accessibility goal orientation and Causes of academic procrastination.According to the research results,the author makes an analysis and discussion,and puts forward some concrete suggestions on how to alleviate the academic procrastination behavior in three aspects: graduate student,graduate tutor and school administrator.Finally,the study also points out the shortcomings and prospects of the study,which provides a new direction for future research.
