In 1930 s,as the crisis of Chinese frontier region deepened and the problem of nationality gradually showed,the Chinese frontier situation was particularly serious and more and more Chinese people began to focus on the national frontier crisis.In order to consolidate the governing,Nanjing National Government started to pay attention to develop frontier education,and put frontier education on the schedule,especially the frontier education of southwest area.Yunnan Province was located in the southwest frontier area in China and adjacent to Burma,Laos and Vietnam,that it possessed important strategic position of national defense.Yunnan was a place that minority nation living together,and the nationalities in province was complex gathering 25 minority nations.The traffic of Yunnan frontier area was obstructed,the climate was relatively severe,the development of frontier economy was hysteretic,the education level of frontier people was low and the majority of frontier people were lack of national consciousness and sense of state.Therefore,civilizing frontier nation and practicing education to frontier area of Yunnan was quite urgent.After Long Yun held the post of chairman of Yunnan Province,he was committed to develop the education business of Yunnan.In April 1931,Yunnan Provincial Government and Provincial Education Department issued Yunnan Government Outline about the Implementation of Frontier Education,since then Yunnan Province began to develop frontier education.In 1930 s,Yunnan government was committed to develop frontier education,set up many schools in the frontier area of Yunnan,and implemented teacher education and frontier social education etc.it was significant to implement frontier education in Yunnan Province,while the Yunnan frontier area had a large gap with mainland area.Therefore,it faced a difficult situation to develop frontier education in Yunnan in1930 s.The development of education in Yunnan in 1930 s was on a basic and exploratory process.And the education development in 1930 s provided references for the better and quicker frontier education in Yunnan after 1940 and later.And the study on frontier education in 1930 s is also used to provide some historical references for nation-building of frontier area and treatment of frontier notational problem.
