Study Of Postgraduate Education Structure Change

The postgraduate education is an essential part of higher education which is related to the cultivation of high-level talents.The structure of the postgraduate education is closely connected with the economic development,the talent demand of the society and so on.Therefore,the research on the structure of postgraduate education is of great significance on the cultivation of postgraduate and the management of government on postgraduates,both theoretically and practically.The structure of postgraduate education is taken as the research object in this study which makes an investigation on universities and the relevant scientific research institutions in Hunan Province.A large number of first-hand information and data was collected by literature research and statistical analysis.Through the comparative analysis,we conclude that the structure of postgraduate education presents its own features,making pleasant achievements:enrollment amount is sustainably increasing and the mater-doctor ratio is gradually making sense;teaching is more closely connected to the relevant industry nowadays than before.However,problems still exists such as graduate overall size is small,cultivation of diversification level was not significantly different,imbalances between the proportion of learners for professional degree and those for academic degree and so on.These problems makes the structure of postgraduate education not match the industry structure,economy structure and the demand for the talents,hence has a certain influence on all aspects for the development of Hunan province.We found it from the study that the main reason for the problem of the structure of postgraduate education can be concluded in three aspects:the first reason is that the external supervision and evaluation mechanism in our country is not sound;the second reason is that the universities don't pay enough attention to the discipline setting and planning,lack of market research;the last is the effects of traditional concept-"heaving degree and lighting technology" and the less attention on the cultivation of professional degree postgraduate.Based on the analysis of the structure of postgraduate education in Hunan province,we conclude that the structure of postgraduate education will make adjustment and optimization from the aspects of hierarchical structure,class structure and type structure or form structure,the specific strategy includes the following,the first is the reasonable position on the hierarchical difference of postgraduate and doctor,the expansion of postgraduate scale and the reduction of doctor scale,the second is making scientific prediction for the demand of various kinds of talent and adjustment on the structure appropriately so as to ensure the characteristics of existing key subject and expand the professional characteristics of new subject,the third is to specific the cultivation of full-time postgraduate,enlarge and fasten the cultivation of part-time postgraduate;the last is to improve the academic basis and guarantee the professional basis and application ability of the professional degree and expanding the proportion of degree study people number.
