Researches have shown that China entered the aging society in the late twentieth century and its aging degree would be increased significantly in twenty-first century.The studies on elderly people from academic circles are numerous,but the study on the elderly people self disadvantaged consciousness is scarce.The elderly people self disadvantaged consciousness is a pessimistic cognition on people himself and his situation.It happens when people's economic independence and health situation declining(or totally loss)and without effective external help at the same time.The elderly people self disadvantaged consciousness will affect elderly people's mental health,social participation and rights realization.The consciousness' emergence is related to the lack of senile mental preparation,disability,diseases,economic difficulties,lack of family care,social prejudice and etc.In this research grandpa H,an aged person from a welfare home in Wuhan,is the case subject.Based on Advantage Perspective Theory and Humanistic Therapy,through the observation and analysis of Mr.H's self disadvantaged consciousness,the author decide to intervene his self disadvantaged consciousness.After the intervention,the author assessed the intervention's effect,then drew the conclusion that,in the vision of case,social work intervention can be an effective way to deal with elderly people's self disadvantaged consciousness.
