Social Work Intervention In The Mental Life Of Five Guarantees For The Elderly In Taijiang County Welfare Institute

Rural "five guarantees" Old people are the most vulnerable groups in the rural elderly population who lack self-rescue capability.The state adopts the "five guarantees" policy and provides them with centralized support services.Although the minimum living needs of rural"five guarantees" are guaranteed,emotional needs,social interaction,cultural entertainment,self-realization and other higher spiritual needs are easily overlooked.This study relies on Guizhou Province's "Three-Zone Plan" Taijiang service project to carry out investigations and studies,through interviews with 13 elderly people in welfare houses,and collecting relevant data through participation-based observation in the practice of Taijiang County Welfare Center.We found that there are problems such as lack of emotional support,pessimistic thoughts,monotony of entertainment,and less social participation in the five-guarantee elderly's spiritual life of the welfare institutions.They summed up the needs of the five-guarantee elderly in emotional,cultural,and self-fulfilment,and therefore applied social work.The major method is to organize and carry out planned social work service activities so as to improve the life confidence of the welfare homes and the elderly,meet their spiritual needs,and enrich their spiritual life in their later years.The author intervenes in the mental life problems of the five old people of the welfare homes by means of individual cases,groups,and community work methods.It mainly uses case work techniques of life review to improve the self-denial and negative pessimism of the case,and construct positive life stories and interpretations of life.significance.A complete group activity and a variety of community activities are carried out to establish the interpersonal communication of the elderly and meet their cultural entertainment and self-realization needs.Through measurement of changes in the life status of the service subjects and evaluation of intervention effects,the research has proved that the combination of social work and the three methods has certain effects on improving the spiritual life of the five-guarantee elderly in the welfare institutions,and can improve the negative lives of the five-guarantee elderly in the welfare institutions.State and increase their well-being.The method of life review can make the clients correctly understand their own life process,and improve self-worth and sense of accomplishment from positive joy experiences.
