in the 1966 World Cup.When it comes to football leagues,the five major leagues(English Premier League,Bundesliga in Germany,Serie A in Italy,La Liga in Spain and Ligue 1 in France)are usually most frequently mentioned by football fans and sports media.Among the five major leagues in Europe,English Premier League(EPL)is the most commercialized,global and successful league.The English Premier League,the top tier of the English professional football competitions,has attracted billions of football lovers and audiences around the world and become the most successful football league in the world.Economically,after more than 100-year development since the official formation of the Football Association in 1863,the economic model of British football industry has gradually come into being and its Premier League has developed to be the most financially successful football league in the world,which contributes a lot to the development of British economy.From the cultural perspective,football is an important part of British national image and spirit.During the period of New Labor and the Cameron government,football has been strongly supported and further developed,and has become an important approach to solidifying politics,developing economy and enhancing its national influence.The continuous success of the English football is indispensable from its comprehensive system of the football development,especially the cultivation of youth football players,for the cultivation of young players is one of the important reasons and measures to maintain the sustainable development of the English football.It is significant for football lovers to understand the reasons for the success of the English football and it is also meaningful for other countries to learn the lessons and experience from the development of the English football.Therefore,this thesis tries to analyze the youth player cultivation system in the English football and came to find out four key factors regarding this issue.Compared with the previous academic works regarding this topic,this thesis is trying to present a relatively comprehensive view on the youth cultivation in English football by analyzing the four key factors,including football culture,school football,professional football and the government support.Particularly,this thesis adopts a combination of micro-level analysis and macro-level study.The nature of football culture and the government strategy is supposed to be macroscopical while the school football and the professional football in England ought to be studied with detailed illustrations and cases.In order to have an thorough study on the youth cultivation system in English football,the documentary analysis is applied in this thesis to discuss the topic and supplement the findings.Besides,a quantitative methodology is utilized to elicit data and statistics,which is intended for the readers to 'have a direct understanding towards the previous and current situation of youth player cultivation in English football.In this sense,the thesis explores the factors in four individual parts and tries to examine the influential mechanism of each factor and illustrate how the youth player cultivation is promoted by each factor.First of all,the cultural atmosphere of Britain as a sporting nation has been morally and spiritually encouraging a responsibility of professional football clubs on the youth cultivation.The football academies established by professional English football clubs provide professional football development opportunities English football industry and also promoted the youth cultivation in the English football.In general,this thesis examines the youth player cultivation system in English football from four perspectives,including the cultural atmosphere of Britain as a sporting nation,the school football development schemes,the cultivation led by professional football clubs and the support from the British government.At last,the thesis offers the enlightenment for the youth cultivation in Chinese football,trying to point out several crucial parts regarding the cultivation of youth football players.
