Geography learning motivation is a motivational tendency that triggers and maintains students' learning geography and makes learning geography point to a certain academic goal.The occurrence and maintenance of geographical learning behavior are caused by the geography learning motivation.It's of great significance to study how junior middle school students' geography learning motivation is,and what are the influencing factors to improve the geography learning interest of junior middle school students and help teachers to carry out effective teaching.Firstly,this paper summarizes the research status and achievements of geography learning motivation.Secondly,based on the existing questionnaire,the questionnaire of junior middle school students' geography learning motivation is compiled A questionnaire survey was conducted among 514 students in 3 middle schools in Lan Zhou,and 8 students and 3 teachers were interviewed.It's found that :(1)Junior middle school students' geography learning motivation is relatively high;The internal motivation is higher than the external motivation.The highest one is to put what they've learned into practice.(2)Junior middle school students' learning motivation geography shows no significant differences in gender.(3)In addition to the ideal-orientation motivation,different respects of geography learning motivation no significantly among different grades of students.The grade two students' geography learning motivation is higher than grade one students'.(4)Junior middle school students' learning motivation geography shows significant differences in different classes of students.(5)Learning motivation there is significant positive correlation between every level,every motive level influence each other.(6)Factors that affect junior middle school students' geography learning motivation mainly include grade,interest,self-worth,attribution,teacher variables,geography textbooks,learning results,and family environment.Among them,the junior middle school students' geography learning motivation and interest,self-cognition,geographical scores,and satisfaction with geographical scores are significantly positively related to each other,and they have a weak correlation with their parents' occupations.Based on the research results,the author proposes the following strategies to improve the geography learning motivation of junior middle school students:(1)Teachers: To create a good geography learning environment,inspire students' curiosity,cultivate students' interest in geography study,and look forward to students and guide them Correct attribution;(2)Students: Develop good geographic study habits,improve self-confidence in geography study,and broaden geography learning channels;(3)Parents and schools: Parents must create a good geographic learning environment and change With regard to geography,schools should organize and carry out geographical related activities to improve the overall level of geography teachers.
