As an implicit linguistic input method,Text Enhancement plays an important role in the process of Second Language Acquisition.According to the Noticing Hypothesis and Focus on Form Hypothesis, the enhancement of the linguistic form can raise the awareness of the learner, which is an important pre-channel of Second Language Acquisition. In order to improve the quality of Text Input and L2 Acquisition, this study investigate whether TE can improve reading comprehension, and pay attention to the effects of prominent Signal Words on the beginners and intermediate learners. The main problem is:what's the effects of Signal Words Prominence on reading comprehension of primary learners and intermediate learners under different conditions?Based on the Noticing Hypothesis and Focus on Form Hypothesis, this research utilizes both qualitative and quantitative methods. The main empirical study including Seven tests and One questionnaire.Beginner and intermediate Chinese learners from Thailand are the subjects,Text Enhancement is the variable, several textual factors are the interference terms. The research compare the reading performance of experimental group and control group by reading tests. As to the intermediate Chinese learners, there are Five tests, which investigate the impact of TE on reading comprehension under the conditions of text reading, paragraph reading and sentence reading; As to the beginners,Two tests included, which focus on the effects of TE on text reading and sentence reading. Finally, the questionnaire investigate the learners' opinion of TE as supplements. This investigation input and analyze dates by Social Statistics Software SPSS.The final results showed:Text Enhancement can influence Chinese reading comprehension, and the influence is affected by linguistic level and reading unit.1.The Signal Words Prominence can significantly promote the reading comprehension of primary Chinese learners' text and sentence reading.2.The Signal Words Prominence can significantly promote the reading comprehension of intermediate Chinese learners' paragraph and sentence reading;but showed no significantly influence on text reading.3.The influence of TE on reading is affected by linguistic level, compared with intermediate learners,TE showed more significant positive effect on primary learners.4.The learners prefer to read TE text and support the positive effects of TE,they believe the Signal Words Prominence can raise their awareness, release anxiety and reduce difficulties, which can promote their Chinese reading comprehension. This study also try to analyze the reason behind, according to the Cognitive Linguistics,TE can raise the awareness of the readers, and improve the activation and extraction of the word's meaning, thus affect cognitive text processing,it's beneficial to information extraction and association, and the reader can select information and locate key information quickly to make choice, their anxiety and fear are released, which can help the reader maintain good mood and have a happy reading experience. In addition, the length of the reading unit will affect the intensity of TE,therefore influence the effect of awareness and performance of reading. The linguistic level is also a significant factors affecting TE.Based on the findings, this study suggest Chinese reading teaching class and reading teaching preparation can adopt TE,such as underline the Signal Words to highlight,to improve the quality of Chinese input and reading comprehension. Moreover, this study also reflect the disadvantages of research method and content, which points out the further study can investigate the effects of other different TE patterns and other influences of TE on L2 learning by more scientific experiment.
