The electrolytic cell, the third section of chapter four(Electrochemical Basics)in the Senior High School Chemistry PEP.It is a comprehensive content based on the content of ion reaction, redox reaction, chemical reaction and energy, and hydrolysis of salts, and it is also a hot topic in college entrance examination. This section contains two major parts:electrolysis principle and application of electrolysis principle. It is widely applied, abstract and theoretically strong, and it is difficult for high school students who are in the development stage of thinking ability, logical reasoning ability, etc. Therefore, this part of knowledge in high school chemistry has become one of the difficulties for teachers and students. This article is devoted to finding out the difficulties of the students in learning this section, and analyzing the causes, and providing reasonable and effective teaching suggestion. In the practice school, the author randomly selected 200 high school sophomores to examine the contents of the electrolytic cell(retrieve 178 valid test papers).Through the analysis of the results of the examination and interviews with students & teachers,it is found that the reasons for student' difficulty in learning the electrolytic cell related knowledge mainly come from the following two aspects:(1)The difficulty of the “electrolytic cell” content itself.(2)The difficulty of students' own reasons. For the reasons for the electrolytic cell to become difficult, propose several teaching suggestions,(1)optimize the design of the guiding case;(2)In the teaching process, students' enthusiasm is motivated from their existing cognitive structure;comparative teaching strategies are suggested to be used;macroscopic-microscopic-symbols and triple representation systems are constructed;(3)Arranging assignments-select exercises.
