Since 21 st century,national educational department has raised up a new education reform,which aims at making education keep up with the times.However,in current stage of mathematics curriculum reform,many mathematics teachers still have many problems in the teaching process.Especially when they are teaching core concepts.Mathematics teachers in senior high school should pay more attention to this problem theoretically or practically,and do more research about teaching and learning of “core concepts”.Scholars at home and abroad have conducted research on the core concepts and its teaching,in order to analyze and solve relative problems in math teaching.This study conduct a survey of the present situation of core concept teaching in senior high school and offer some pedagogical suggestion according to three dimensions below: inner request of “competence education”,the objective requirements for the implementation of high school mathematics curriculum standards,and the problems in practice of core concept teaching.This study focused on mathematics teachers from four middle schools in Huanggang high School,Huangmei No.1 high School,Xishui No.1 high School and Xishui Experimental High School in Hubei Province.The survey and interview were conducted from three dimensions: the teacher's understanding and grasp of the core concepts,the teacher's emphasis on the concepts and core learning,and the teacher's teaching strategies on the core concepts.What's more,this study make a comprehensive analysis about the data with literature review and SPSS.Through comprehensive analysis,a conclusion could be drew that there are many problems in the current high school mathematics core concepts teaching,Firstly,some teachers are weak in understanding and master of the core concepts,so they may emphasize on wrong point.Secondly,some teachers are not aware of importance of concept teaching and the core concept teaching,neither do they aware that core concept teaching is a long-term dynamic construction process.Thirdly,some teachers are lake of strategies on the core concepts teaching.In the teaching process,they do not use specific examples and rich backgrounds to do scenarios lead in.Therefore,this study proposes some improving strategies for the core concepts teaching.First of all is to improve the professional level of high school mathematics teachers in order to enhance their understanding and grasp of the core concepts,and increasing their emphasis to the concept teaching,especially the core concepts teaching.Secondly,teachers should consciously and gradually improve the skills and teaching strategies concerning the core concepts teaching,such as design teaching procedure carefully,based on the process of concept formation,designing genuine contextual problems as lead in,and creating doubtable questions.Pay attention to grasping the teaching materials as a whole,in order to assimilate old and new concepts.Consolidate the original knowledge points,and allow students to form a knowledge link,pay attention to revealing the nature of concepts and the cultivation of students' core qualities of mathematics.The innovation of this research,Firstly,this paper uses Cronbach's ? coefficient method,factor analysis method,and frequency statistics method in SPSS software,providing mathematical methods for the study and treatment of some practical problems.Secondly,based on the current state of core concepts teaching in senior high school,some pedagogical strategies which are helpful to core concepts teaching are offered.
