Mathematical concept, which occupies an important position in mathematical knowledgesystem, is the basic unit of the knowledge system of mathematical curriculum. So the learning ofmathematical concept becomes the object of study in mathematics learning areas.Then keyconcepts, that are center of mathematical concept system,should be the key of mathematicslearning. By guiding students to find out the key concepts and to take the initiative to constructknowledge and doing meaningful learning around it, teachers can make students achieve athorough understanding.First of all,the article clues the appearance of paying more attention to facts and littleattention to theories in the process of concept teaching in high school nowadays. It elaborates thesignificance and importance of key concepts teaching and puts forward the tasks in connectionwith key concepts, which needed to be done in concept teaching and learning, according tocurriculum standard at home and abroad, the setting up of curriculum in our high school and thecharacteristic of new teaching material.So, it can guide teaching effectively, and improve thescore of students.Second, the article introduces the concept map, focusing on its making, on the basis ofrelated learning theories about mathematical concept and the relation between key concepts andother related concepts, the relation among other concepts. Then it points out the problems tonote and mistakes to avoid. Try to use concept map to make concept instructional design, bystudying key concepts and concept map.This article evaluates the effectiveness of concept mapteaching, from the aspects of teaching process, content, reflection.Finally, the article makes an conclusion and reflection from the overall, as follows: keyconcepts teaching can help teachers grasp the level of students’ understanding of concept,promptly correct and make the mathematical knowledge system of students more perfect, toimprove the quality of teaching. Applying concept map properly in teaching, can make students’knowledge structure holistic, principled and clarity, simultaneously, raise the interest of learningmathematics.
