In consideration of the important role of local colleges and universities in China's higher education system and the important role of universities' credibility,this paper selects the credibility of local universities as the research object.Based on the questionnaire survey and literature analysis,the paper analyzes the status quo of the credibility of local universities in China from three dimensions:talent cultivation,scientific research and social service.According to the results of the questionnaire survey,the credibility of local colleges and universities in China is in the upper middle level.The public of different ages,educational backgrounds,occupations,incomes,regions,and whether or not they have studied or worked in local colleges and universities have significant differences in the evaluation of the credibility of local colleges and universities in China.According to the survey results,the paper analyzes the problems existing in the construction of public trust in China's local universities as follows.First,the public are not satisfied with the local universities' talent development.It is embodied in the way of talent cultivation,the level of teachers and the quality of talent cultivation.Second,the public has the lowest satisfaction with the scientific research of local universities.It is mainly manifested in the research funds,human resources' quality and scientific research innovation ability of local universities.Third,the social service level of local universities has not yet reached the public expectation.It is embodied in the cultural services,economic services and the opening of campus resources in local universities.In response to the above problems,the author puts forward suggestions to improve the credibility of local universities in China:First,improve the training methods for talents,strengthen the construction of "dual-qualified" teachers and improve the quality of personnel training;second,strive for research funding,respond positively to the local major economic and social needs,introduce high-level scientific research leaders,improve the ability of scientific innovation;Third,improve the level of cultural services,improve the level of economic services,improve the social openness of resources within the school.
