School improvement,a continuous and complex systematic project,pursues the ultimate goal to improve school members' learning outcomes and school education quality.With the gradual depth of the new curriculum reform,new demands and challenges for the school education help the schools overcome the difficulties through the improvement.Examining school improvement from the perspective of school culture,we can fully grasp the specific process of school improvement.The overall planning of the school curriculum based on the school culture can make schools improved effectively,taking the school culture as an entry point.This study originated from a collaborative project,University scholar Alliance-district education administrative department-primary and secondary schools cooperation.X primary school located in Qingshan Lake District,Nanchang city was selected as the research object.The qualitative research methods such as case study strategy,interview,observation,etc.were used to collect data in order to explore the improvement of X primary school over time.The study focused on five specific questions:(1)what is the background and present situation of school improvement;(2)what are the important events in the school improvement process,what are the difficulties encountered,what measures to take to solve difficulties;(3)how to establish the school improvement plan,how to implement the plan and what about effect;(4)what are the positive factors and negative factors of school improvement;(5)what is the possible path of school improvement.The results showed that X primary school from a "no soul" school,which had suffered through having dilapidated buildings,serious loss of teachers,and students and facing the merging,to a “soul” school with a beautiful environment where students circumfluence and social recognition.Obviously,a series of difficulties encountered such as the shortage of teachers and a large number of “difficult students” prevented this school from further development.The principal is the key person to help the X primary school improve;however,the insufficient faculty and the lack of funds have reduced the efficiency of the school improvement.The researcher investigated the change in X primary school based on the perspective of schoolculture and believed that the reconstruction of school culture is the primary task for school improvement.Any form of school improvement is achieved through the curriculum,which serves as the only path from the ideal to the reality of school education.curriculum.In addition,the vitality of school culture is demonstrated through the curriculum.Therefore,the curriculum planning based on the school culture is the next step after the reconstruction of the school culture.The key effective strategies to the effective improvement of X primary school are as follows: to reconstruct the image of the school,to improve the professional ability of teachers and to reconstruct the school culture.Meanwhile,the following enlightenments from X primary school are obtained:(1)effective school improvement depends on the promotion of school culture;(2)successful school improvement is based on principals' leadership ability;(3)continuous school improvement needs financial support.
