The child assessment is very conductive to the HighScope preschool curriculum.As us generally accept the curriculum and highly emphasize observing and understanding of children,we have focused a lot on the child observation record.The child assessment of HighScope preschool curriculum contents two distinctive features,one is developmental character about the progress of the assessment and the use of assessment's results,another is the integration about who and when to do the assessment,whom and what to be assessed.By reviewing literatures and doing practicing,this research has created a questionnaire of investigation and an outline of interviewing for teachers about these two features and completed investigation in four HighScop-kindergartens(ABCD)in Chengdu and Leshan.Through the statistical analysis of the assessment system which is used by these four kindergartens,the interviews with teachers in C?D,and the questionnaires which are filled by teachers who are in D,this research has recognized how these four kindergartens to implement the child assessment of HighScope preschool curriculum.About the progress of the assessment and the use of assessment's results,the progress of the assessment has been practiced well while most teachers haven't done well at the developmental point of the results as a handful teachers have done well at it.And the more experienced teachers are,the more distinctive features are showed.Of the integration about who and when to do the assessment,whom and what to be assessed,the research shows that teachers still play the role as assessment subject as parents hardly engaged in child's assessment.They have their own basis when they do the assessment,such as whom to be selected and assessed.The research shows that most of them prefer to do the assessment at Plan-Do-Review routine and to the Social and emotional Development,Physical Development and Health,Creative Arts and Approaches to Learning.What to be neglected are Language,Literacy and Communication,Science and Technology,Social Studies.And after the reflection of these four kindergartens' implementation of the childassessment of HighScope preschool curriculum,some suggestions have been put forward.
