Expression recognition ability is not only an important part of children's emotional ability,but also one of the critical factors of children's social development.Although there are many studies on expression recognition both here and abroad,preschoolers are not the main objects among them.In addition,static expression were used as experimental materials in previous studies,but preschoolers always recognize dynamic expressions in the daily life,which leads to many research results can not represent preschoolers' real expression recognition ability.Therefore,this study examined the development of the expression recognition ability of 3-5 years old children with the dynamic expressions of five emotions such as happiness,sadness,anger,surprise and fear.In this study,96 children were randomly selected from a public kindergarten to test their expression recognition ability of facial expressions,tone expressions,gesture expressions and cartoon expressions.And compare the recognition ability of cartoon expressions with and the recognition ability of human expressions.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The ability of preschoolers' expression recognition has a significant age characteristic.The expression recognition ability of 5 years old children is much better than that of 4 years old children.And the expression recognition ability of 4 years old children is much better than that of 3 years old children.The expression recognition ability of children is rapidly developing at the age of 3-5.(2)There are some differences in preschoolers' expression recognition ability with different emotional types.In general,for preschoolers,happiness and anger can be better recognized than sadness,sadness can be better recognized than fear and surprise.(3)There is no significant effect of gender in preschoolers' expression recognition ability.(4)There are some differences in preschoolers' expression recognition ability with different kinds of expressions.In general,for preschoolers,facial expressions be better recognized than gesture expressions and tone expressions,gesture expressions can be better recognized than tone expressions.(5)Preschoolers' cartoon expression recognition scores are higher than those of human expressions,especially for the emotion of fear and surprise.Therefore,when adults training preschoolers' expression recognition ability should according to the age of the children.In teaching,more gesture expressions more tone expressions and more cartoon expressions should be used.We should enrich preschoolers' emotional knowledge and promote the development of preschoolers' expression recognition ability through various ways,such as playing performing games,watching cartoons,etc.
