In recent years,with the continuous increase of the elderly population in China,the.individual,family,social development and other aspects of the elder 1y are under pressure.Due to the gradual weakening of family support functio ns,it is unable to meet people's pension needs,and the community pension m odel is still in the stage of exploration and improvement.There is no systemat ic template for reference.As one of the indispensable old-age care models in China,institutional pension has become the last choice for many families.At t he same time,physical maladjustment,poor psychological adaptation,poor soci al support,poor mental health,and poor institutional management in nursing h ome institutions have also become unavoidable problems and problems for the elderly,elderly people,and the elderly.In order to respond to the problem of maladjustment of the elderly in the life of elderly care institutions and explore the intervention strategies and techniques for social work to improve the mala djustment of life of the elderly,this paper selects two cases of living in retire ment institutions with different types of maladaptive problems and is typical.C ases of the elderly,based on the collection of their basic information and the analysis of specific levels of inadequacies,were guided by rational emotional t herapy and empowerment theory,and analyzed and elaborated the interventional process and intervention effectiveness.The results show that the elderly who r eceive counselling in social work cases have reduced or even disappeared from their institutional maladaptive conditions,and their quality of life and life sati sfaction in the institutions have increased.Therefore,social work intervention t o improve the elderly in the institutional life maladjustment has a certain practi cal value.In addition,different social work intervention strategies and techniqu es should be adopted to address the different factors that lead to the problem of maladaptation in institutional life,and "differentiated" services should be pro vided in consideration of individual differences in individual needs,and social work intervention efficiency would be increased.
