Textbook illustration,as an integral part of teaching materials,is an important teaching resource.The rational application of textbook illustrations in teaching can not only stimulate students' interest in studying chemistry,but also arouse students' awareness of problems,cultivate information acquisition and cognitive ability,penetrate emotional attitudes and values,and contribute to the formation and development of the core quality of students' discipline.In chemistry teaching,guiding and improving students' reading ability is an important task of chemistry teaching.The research and utilization of textbook illustration is also an important link to implement and deepen curriculum reform,play and realize the function of new teaching materials.In this paper,the relevant concepts of textbook illustration are defined based on the review of the Chemistry illustrations study of education scholars at home and abroad.The function of the textbook illustrations are concluded and analyzed from the perspective of the contents of the textbook illustrations and psychology according to cognitive learning theory,constructivism learning theory and dual coding theory.At the same time,the questionnaire survey method,interview method,classroom observation and text analysis method are adopted to investigate the current situation of illustration application of high school chemistry textbooks.This paper analyzes the current situation of teachers and students and finds out some problems in the illustration application of high school chemistry textbooks.On the one hand,most teachers recognize the importance of illustrations,but there are some limitations to the cognition of illustration functions.Teachers lack reading skills,and seldom teach the reading method.The teaching model lacks diversity;In addition,the teachers are not satisfied with the illustrations in the current version.On the other hand,students do not attach importance to illustrations,they are not impressed with the textbook illustrations and lack scientific instruction.Besides,they like multimedia teaching more than textbook illustration.Through the analysis of the existing problems,I put forward the following three optimizing strategy respectively from teachers,students and education environment:Teachers should pay attention to the excavation of the function,the presentation diversity and the teaching guidance of textbook illustration.The students should straighten the attitude of illustration study,make the pre-class "think before" preview,the classroom validation thinking,the application of the extracurricular transfer;To optimize education environment,teachers should be good at using teaching and research platform to carry out teaching material illustration teaching.The optimization strategy was applied to the actual teaching,after a semester of practice,the students' interest in chemistry learning was obviously improved,they could take the initiative to focus on and explore the illustration of tacit knowledge.The ability in the analysis and information extraction of the image was enhanced and they preliminarily formed the consciousness of pre-class preview analysis,classroom verification thinking and extracurricular application migration.The teacher's attention to textbook illustration has also been improved.In the teaching,they pay attention to the analysis and application of textbook illustration,and excavate and apply the education function of textbook illustration.The practical results show that the optimization strategy used in the textbook illustration is practical and effective.
